Romo reminds me a lot of Danny White in that you are always waiting for him to do something stupid.

romo reminds me of danny white and don meredith, and craig morton

if you look at stats, Romo's stats are almost identical to Morton's stats

neither could win the big game

The problem is that many of the most ardent complainers have never experienced the frustration of being "next years champs." They don't know what its like to come so close to a championship only to lose it on a last second qb sneak or fg. They have never experienced our beloved Cowboys being blown out in a playoff game or losing two superbowls to the hated Steelers.

They also have never experienced a superbowl season, and the ups and downs that go with it. Many believe that a superbowl team goes the whole year without setbacks or bad games. They don't know how great it feels to finally win the "big one" after all the setbacks and downturns that the team endures during the season.

That's why many of the ole timers know that this was just one game that "our Cowboys" lost and that there are 14 to go. Maybe the loss is the begining of a trend, or maybe its one of the setbacks a superbowl team faces during the season. We'll see!

It's not the discussion itself. It's the illogical gloom and doom and refusal to give credit where it's due all in the name of reality AKA negativity.

I don't see it.

There are a number of "zone defenders" here who are quick to jump on anyone for making a negative comment, regardless of the validity of the comment.

You also have "admins" who regularly insult members for seeing things differently then the "admins" do.

I don't think anyone here expects everyone here to agree with them every time.

If the "defenders" quit trying to further their agenda and simply allow people to speak their opinions without personally attacking them there would likely be less negative threads and the ones that do come up would stay at the top based on the merits of the points being made rather then to further the agenda of a self proclaimed "defender"

This entire thread is a perfect example. What does the OP have to prove by making this thread? That he is just so much better then anyone who dares to criticise the team?

What does it have to do with the Dallas Cowboys? Just another chest thumping "I'm right and your wrong" ego satisfying thread about nothing.

Totally agree on that, a few admins have done that, what was funny to me though, one of the things that i posted about jerry jones and money issue, and i got blasted all over the board about my views. Now one of the admins agreed with me on that. And i listened to one of them talking the other night on a radio show and he was saying some of the things i have been talking about wade.

Like someone mentioned above, I have been through the bad season starting in 60's, then i saw the 70's, then the superbowl, then the rebuilding some with Harvey Martin, Ed Jones, the dirty dozen like with randy white and thomas henderson. Then the loss to the superbowl in 75 to the steelers, then the big superbowl win against the broncos. Then the loss again to the steelers, with the pass that jackie smith dropped. Now did i get onto jackie smith for dropping the pass. No! Jackie smith got the team there that year. Then i saw the 49er catch in championship game. Then i sat through the losing years of tom landrys last years with the team. Then the losing with jimmy johnson and jerry jones till they built the team in the 90's. Then, the big ego of jerry jones get in the way losing out on 3 superbowls in a row, then the lucky play to get back to the superbowl, in 95.
Then the slowly breaking up of the team with jerry jones because he thought he could run the team as head coach behind the scenes, with a puppet as head coach. Then the rebuilding of the team with parcells, but jerry jones still in the background with full control on final say in 53 man roster. Up to now with the wade era. So, I have seen it all.
I was there in the early 60's, but was kinda too small to remember too much, in 1960 i was 7, so hard to remember too much back then. Where i joined and became a full time cowboys fan, is the ice bowl. I cried and cried on that game, just like when jerry fired tom landry. But as they say time heals wounds.

Question for all the "longtime Cowboys fans" who say that this is the end of the world:

How did you manage to survive the Cowboys getting slaughtered 38-0 by the Cardinals, 44-0 by the Bears, and 38-6 by the Lions?

How did you ever manage to survive the 3-13 and 1-15 seasons in 1988-1989?

How did you ever manage to survive the 5-11, 5-11, 5-11 seasons between 2000-2002?

44-0 beating by Ditka's Bears was tough. I think there was a playoff beating by the Rams that was tougher. I remember a year that we went 7-9 and would have made the playoffs if the Saints would have lost in the last game of the season.

The 3-13 and 1-15 teams were tough to follow, but their wasn't high expectations so I was just looking forward to the drafts, unlike these current team where there are high expectations and they keep failing.

I survived the 5-11 teams by watching Jerry's puppet regime attempt to coach fail miserably. Yes, it was Jerry coaching not Campo. :)

IMO, my toughest losts are:
1) the Cardinal lost in the playoffs were Jake Plummer killed us.
2) the Carolina lost in the playoffs were Kerry Collins killed us and Mike Irvin went down.

I'm not an old timer, I was 10 years old the last time we won a Super Bowl. I remember being really happy, but I truly did not appreciate it since I was a kid.

I almost forget the feeling of winning a playoff game, hyping up the conf championship or the Super Bowl knowing that your team is representing. But I do know the ups and down that happen and how great it feels to win a championship after so many lows. I am a die hard San Antonio Spurs fan and I have been lucky enough to feel the incredible feeling of having your team be the last team standing in the recent years.

I want the same thing for my Cowboys. living through this drought that we have been in will be make our next Super Bowl win feel that much better. Hopefully it will come soon. Really soon would be nice.

And I believe that the reason people get SOOOO Frustrated with this team is because everyone sees the potential this team has. We see that they truly have the TALENT to win it all. So when the mental mistakes get in the way of us winning, its ****ing frustrating.

To sum it up for most fans ( I don't do this anymore but I used to do it) I think it's better to come on a forum and cuss/***** and moan about it than to cuss the wife out and not speak to her for a week.

I could only wish that so many of these throwing temper tantrums fans really would bail, like Saltwater's guy said.

I don't know, where I come from there's value in bucking up when times are tough, in keeping your wits about you when things go bad instead of being a 100% emotional creature, in acting like an adult instead of a five year old who's had his toy taken away. But here, it's more cool to join the herd and scream like a baby when things aren't perfect.

There just seems to be way more crying and wailing than I remember even a few years ago. In 2004, we came out the last half of the year and just quit. We went 6-10 and the team didn't even show up most weeks. It was incredibly discouraging. Of course you don't expect sunshine and daffodils in those times, but I remember more actual discussion of "What has happened to our team? Why do we have so little energy? What's wrong?" Now it's pure "Aieeeeeee!!!! End of the world!!!! Fire everyone!!!!!! I can't take it anymore!!!"

I guess people use these boards more like chat rooms now. When I started posting on these boards not that long ago, it was more about discussion of strategy and player strengths and weaknesses and upcoming opponents. Now it's pure emotionalism. People seem to be actually looking for a reason to throw a temper tantrum, and it's just embarrassing.

Whatever it is, and I've said it many times, people need to sack the hell up. You really think we have it that bad following this football team? Get the pine needles out of your eyes and step back and look at the forest. Maybe it would help to pretend you're an actual football player who has to man up, be tough, and deal with adversity at times. Because right now we have a bunch of ten year old girls who just got their Hannah Montana tickets yanked.

I believe as fans we are more dissappointed when expectations have been raised. When we were 5-11, you knew we sucked and though I really wanted them to be better, it was not as frustrating than when you see the current team, with alot of good parts but somehow can't quite put it together. In 2007, I thought we really may have missed out on a great opportunity. My feeling as I have said before is 2009 will be ok, maybe 9-7 but next year we may have something big to enjoy.

Bottom line - the losses that linger with you are the ones when the Boys were good (or you thought they were) and they dissappointed you because of " what could have been "

I'm not a blind homer, but have been a fan since 1978.

I made plenty of repairs to walls and doors that coincide with many of those unfortunate events in Cowboys history.

When I hear things like this it always makes me shake my head. I know I love the Cowboys. I know I love the atmosphere and mood so much better when they win. I know I can't stand it when they lose. But I've never, at any time in my life, ever felt the need to smash, break, or destroy any of my own property over a game I had absolutely zero hand in the outcome of. That just seems really...I don't even know what.

Glad to hear you don't do that anymore cause that's just taking things to the extreme. Cussing out your wife and not speaking to her for any amount of time over a loss by a professional sports team is just silly.

It's ok for everyone to hate losing. To think it sucks. I hate it. I think it sucks. But I don't hate it nearly as much as I hate losses that I'm involved in. When it's sports or competition that I'm actually participating in then I get more angry cause I want to win so bad. But never so bad that I destroy things.

Some people just put too much emotional stock into sports. Sometimes I fear people's entire well being, and self worth, are tied entirely to what their favorite sports teams are doing.
