Question: Greg Hardy is a Cowboy next season: True or false?

Jon Machota: At this point, I'll say true. I think he's rubbed enough people the wrong way nationally that his stock won't be too high. (Well, unless he averages two sacks a game for the rest of the season.) The Cowboys have demonstrated that they're willing to put up with the off and on the field distractions Hardy can bring. The other part is that I think Hardy really enjoys playing in Dallas and playing for Rod Marinelli and Jason Garrett. If everything is relatively close in terms of contract numbers, I think he'd give the Cowboys the edge.

Question: What's your take on Randy Gregory & how the Cowboys are using him? There was high expectation placed on him & he was playing well before his injury. I know he was eased back into games but I don't he is playing enough snaps & is almost a non-factor at the defensive end

Jon Machota: If Gregory had been drafted by a team with more question marks along the defensive line, he'd likely be playing more. He's just not going to take reps away from Greg Hardy. So as of now, he's used in passing situations when Hardy is moved inside or over to the left end. But it's also bigger than just playing time. Suffering that high ankle sprain in the season opener slowed the process with Gregory. I think he's starting to get back to where he feels healthy and like his old self. And I think that's why the Cowboys have been trying to get him more work each week. Gregory played 10 snaps against Seattle three weeks ago, 13 snaps against Philly two weeks ago and 22 snaps last Sunday in Tampa...

Absolutely true. Still think that he is going to test the market.

Hardy stays.

He's too talented to let go, and although he rustles the media's feathers, I don't believe he's the locker room cancer that they make him out to be.

Agreed, we need him way more than he needs us. I m hoping he gets it, settles down and if this team does enough to show him we are dedicated to winning he ll stick around. IF i were him tho, no way. Id walk from this mess, but heres to hoping hes smarter than me.

I truly believe that If the decision was left up to the head coach Jason Garrett, Hardy doesn't fit with what he wants in a player and wouldn't be back, but since Garrett is the puppet head coach that has little to no say in the matter on any player, then the degenerate will probably be back but I hope not, the guy is just a bad influence on the young players in the locker room regardless of the hyperbole of Jerry Jones telling the media that Hardy is a leader...

I hope they sign him long term, he's not a degenerate for a misdemeanor.

I think they resign the guy.

His "price" has dropped considerably because most teams in the league won't touch him.

I cheer a little inside whenever he does something stoopid because he's just cost himself a few hundred grand (again).

Not sure he's worth the $ on the field. Other than 1 or 2 games, has not seemed to be a factor.

I've watched him quite a bit and he looks good on more plays than he looks bad IMO.

PFF has him rated as the #1 Cowboy defender at a +10.0 on the season.

He leads the Cowboys in sacks, he leads them in QB hits and is 3rd in QB pressures... And that's with missing 4 games.

A young defensive team in transition does not need a expensive volatile trouble magnet like Hardy.

Jerra's growth as a GM wll be tested with his decision to thow milions for his sporadic sacks or decide a clean and decent promising other player without bagage and anger issues deserve it.

Jerra can be a Kraft or a greasy bling-wearing Al Davis.

I would not tie the team to him for long term guarenteed big money. Short incentive based, with an easy out, fine.
