IMO, Greg Hardy isn't a make or break player for Dallas even under the best circumstances.

This team goes as far as Romo can take them. I don't think Dallas should pretend like any other player makes much of a difference. Romo can get the team 10 or 12 wins, but apparently the collection of superstars scattered throughout the roster are incapable of getting just 1.

Romo is all that matters in Dallas. Minimize distractions, get a stud RB or another very good WR, and use the money saved to improve a couple of spots. When you have a number of holes, getting to average at 3 or 4 will do you more good than getting to excellent at just 1.

The whole hardy issue will be debated and decided at end of dallas season.
A lot can happen between now and then.
Hardy looked awesome the first game, but after that teams started dbl teaming and chipping him, which reduced his effect on plays.

I think he would be worth keeping, but he is volatile, so I would want certain clauses in any long term contract.

If Dallas had another DE who was as good, then they might get to qb more , right now it is only hardy, and then they can dbl him
and still block the other guys too lol.

I would not tie the team to him for long term guarenteed big money. Short incentive based, with an easy out, fine.

That type of thing doesn't really exist. He took one this year out of desperation.

But I would offer him 10m a year for as long as he wants it.

I honestly like Hardy. I like his bad boy image. I like his rage and his passion for the game. I especially liked how he roughed up Brady.
I could care less about the political correct crowd that criticize him for complimenting about Brady's wife or about him slapping the clipboard from the special teams coach. Garrett should have done that and chewed out the entire special teams.

He's our best defender bar none - and a good passrusher is hard to find.

I think this team has gone too soft. They have gotten used to losing once again. I want players that hate to lose and that take it to heart if we don't win. Hardy is that type of player.

I'd be willing to sign him again for a reasonable price.

You mean the media and fan driven distractions?
What has he really done since he got here to be a distraction.
Late for a meeting, a few tweets and comments that rubbed some the wrong way.
Pictures about his case that was dismissed.

All,in the past, time to move forward.

Not trying to argue, but what about him pushing the special teams coach? You don't consider that a distraction? Who was the person that leaked that he missed a meeting? Probably a disgruntled player. Those are the distractions I'm talking about.

Jerry doesn't help things when he calls the guy a leader. He should have said he's a leader by example on the practice field, games, etc.

Only if he's cheap. Coaches are tiring of him.

Keep him, dump McClain, Carr and Church..

This sounds about right. We could purge ourselves of a lot of these ******, fragile receivers too. Give me Dez and Beasley and you can sell the rest at a lawn sale for all I care. Williams could get back in my good graces with a big game today.

What Hardy does between now and year's end is likely to affect his chances for being resigned. His production lately hasn't been enough to get the Fo to consider resigning him an absolute must. Nevertheless, his abilities are considerable but our rushmen diverting attention from him haven't been too noticeable. As long as what he and his agent (Rosenhaus) don't get overly demanding, I think his chances for resigning him will possibly be at about 50/50 or better, imho. Both Jerry and Stephen have already expressed their desire to make that happen. What he does during what's left of this season should also have an influence upon his future with the Cowboys.

Is he any more "impactful" than Ware was when Ware was run out of town?

Where are the legions of fans to criticize the fact that Hardy's sacks haven't moved the dial?

Sorry, this post isn't about Hardy -- I'm still sore about the ridiculous attitude people had about Ware's sacks.

That all cowboys fans don't realize how good Ware was is an indictment of them. Hardy hasn't been consistently racking up sacks, but he's been good in pretty much every game outside of the Eagles game. If keeping him was just based on ability it would be a no brainer. Add in the off the field stuff and there's some question, but I still think he's the best player on our defense right now, with the only player on the roster with a chance to be as good being Jones and i wouldn't bet on that one.

Agree, he should lead by example. I was just saying much is overblown. But it does add up. I forgot about the pushing incidence.
But when do people truly listen to Jerry. Not defending Jerry, but the media does nit pick at his quotes. Try to decipher them like some alien artifact. But he should keep quiet too.

Nice read. Don't know if this was already posted or had it's own thread.

I think they resign the guy.

His "price" has dropped considerably because most teams in the league won't touch him.

I cheer a little inside whenever he does something stoopid because he's just cost himself a few hundred grand (again).

The fact that most teams won't touch him reduces the odds the Cowboys will touch him after this season and every time he does something stupid reduces the odds he'll be with the team past this season. The Cowboys are 0-5 with Hardy that's not helping his chances of being back next season.
