Question on Coleman

Why does Parcells know what Coleman can do at safety? Coleman has only played safety for the last two years and last year he didn't light it up. Parcells knows him as a corner.

I still say it is very likely that week one comes without either Coleman on the roster.

It is going to take an injury or a complete disaster in TC and preseason from the young guys for him to be on the roster.

I agree...

Marcus Coleman has been working at CB according to Parcells and the Dallas media.

I assume this means our Safeties will be Williams, Davis, Watkins, & Beriault, with Coleman as an insurance card.

CBs as Henry, Newman, Glenn, Coleman, Reeves, and ???. Or do we stop at 5?

I seriously think Coleman is this year's Izell Reese, a warm body, although Izell being a warm body wasn't the plan, it just turned out that way, and I think Coleman will turn out that way as well, Parcells likes Berry-O and Killer, and they figure to be the backup safeties, if no more than just players on special teams, Roy is a SS, and a damn, good one at that, so he isn't going anywhere because of Marcus, and it's too soon to give up on Watkins, IMO, we only keep 4 safeties, and Coleman isn't one of them

I don't see BP keeping Coleman around as the 5th CB, he usually gives those positions to young players

I see this as a positive. Coleman worked at CB because Parcells and Co. were comfortable and familiar with what he could do at FS. There are only so many reps available in in short mini-camp. See what the other FSs can do, knowing that there is a viable plan B.

It also lets them know what Coleman can do at CB in a pinch (might be we see more of Newman at PR).

Options are a postive.

true, but I think Marcus has slowed down alot, and he never had really good speed to begin with, to be an effective corner, I think he gets cut

Coleman is simply how they sneak an extra safety on the roster imho.

He can play both. It'll be interesting to see where he plays most once TC starts.
