The one thing about the deep ball is that I do think it takes a lot of practice with a WR to get the timing down right.

Somewhat true, but if you see Bledsoe's Deep balls, He is incredibly accurate on those seems like. I think some QBs have that feel for throwing Deep ball, just like some QBs seem to have feel to throw accurate throws. Its not just about Machanics or practice etc.

But I do agree, the more you know the WR, obviously QB knows where exactly the WR will be and hence better accuracy. In Henson's case, you can see there is huge difference last two weeks. First two weeks was not good at all on Deep throws and I commented on it several times about it. Third Week was somewhat better, but still not good. But last two weeks, he has been on Money, other than WRs not catching the ball. And thats what I remember from him in Michigan, I.e. his Deep balls being really good, not saying he doesn't miss them at all, but 90% of time he was on money. He seems to be there or at least almost there right now.

Yes, Skip, I am the same person :D It seems like that board has moved from that old site eh? Is that RAT guy still being the typical headache for you? ;)
The old site died but was reborn elsewhere. The rodent isn't welcome there.

If you are throwing a Deep ball and you are unsure that your target is getting seperation they teach you as a QB to put the ball either right on the sideline or just outside (basically throwing it away). I've watched all but one game this year for Henson and it seems to me he's been painting that sideline for the most part. Now, I don't know if he is supposed to be underthrowing the ball or getting it out of his hands earlier, but I will say that I have seen very little seperation between his target and the coverage.

One other decent measure in NFLE is to compare him to the other QB on the roster. Chang has, in all of the throws I have watched for him, not really attempted a single Deep sideline pass other than one blown play. I'm guessing either the Cowboys encouraged the coaching staff to give Henson some experience with the deep pass or the team feels he is the only one that showed enough in practice to even attempt it.

So far I've been impressed with his attempts. I'd like to see him throw some to anyone else but the Rhein's horrible deep threat though.

i also thought aikman put too much arc on his deep balls. he'd have his receiver turning around and waiting on it much of the time. fortunately guys like irvin and harper were dynamite on the "jump ball".

no big whoop - as aikman more than made up for it with his laser-precision short and intermediate passes. he had a black belt in that department.

Ha, now that must be a better place to post there. I basically left because I couldn't take that idiot anymore and didn't want to get into fights with him. He had too many lives in that board too, banned too many times, still used to manage to crawl back :d

Honestly, I think from what I've seen (and that is limited) the deep ball seems to be his weakness. Not that he can't throw deep, but I have not seen him throw deep accurately.

Then again, his recievers are very low quality and usually get no seperation going deep.

Other than that he looks fine.

If he had TO going deep I could evaluate him better.

That one fly route he threw in the last game hit the WR in the outside bicep perfectly...I mean perfectly, it was good coverage but a better wr at least makes a decent play, a good NFL WR makes that catch. But that's really the only deep deep ball he I have seen him throw.

But remember (an NO this is not a comparison to the GREAT Aikman, man he was awesome, but remember, he couldn't throw the bomb for ****, he even admitted that. If you recall in that 92 season that was one of the main Pro's for the Buerlien campaign)

Henson is playing pretty well but he still seems a little uncomfortable in the pockett, I'm not sure how much of the field he really sees.
