Haha please. Those same fat boys would gladly pound him into the turf if given the opportunity, if they can't get their fat butts ready for the next play that's on them.

What I say is if he has a "free play" make sure he pays for it and drill him hard into the ground, he won't do it again

I'd rather see the Cowboys fake an injury than see AR get a free play. Brees beat us last year in OT when we should have subbed out players on defense and didn't get the chance.

Thoughts on a "hardcount" from the QB?

Glad you brought it up .. this is a known tactic .. 11 v 11 on the field and ready to snap the ball .. everyone knows from both sides to not jump the line .. even us fans when it's 4th-and-short and they are trying to pull players offside.. you can even see the offense jumping offside in some instances .. so the "count" to snap the ball is part of the game .. you wanna call it "hard count" or "count" it is part of it. Notice that Rodgers and Cam do that annoying count where they extend it in a childish way .. I did not mention it in my response because its a "count" just DON'T JUMP THE LINE .. both offense and defense ..
when you see the defense trying to put 11 on the field to face your 11 and you decide "I am gonna snap it and catch them before they cross the line" then this is dirty and cheap..they are not playing ..
besides .. there is an element of unfairness .. the offense can do whatever substitutions they want .. but the D better watch it because the dirty jerk is gonna snap it once we call for a sub.

I know many don't want to seem like complaining about every big and small thing ..but the OP has a valid point

cracks in the rule book to be exploited...

now there is legitimate discussion between the spirit of the game and bush league tactic.

where's the line drawn? seems its subjective granted there is no rule against it in rule books. competition committee gets together and discusses this stuff and decides what to keep and what to change.

i believe this one is going to change...

If the rules allow it. It's legit.
If the rules don't allow it, and you don't get caught, it is also legit.

No such thing as cheap tactics. Any tactic that ultimately works in your favor is legit.

Can it be "changed"?

Does the defense have the right to rotate defensive players on every play if the offense isn't?

That's seems to me where Rodgers nails most teams -- it's almost always when DL rotates on and off the field.

not sure if it can. im sure it has been discussed in the meetings and it was allowed for some reason.

i mean i guess they can just slap a 5 yard or so penalty if they want to on the offense for not letting the defense get their rotations in?

it can be both.

sometimes they take advantage of officiating by making substitutions and also snapping fast before the defense can be set

that is definitely a form of cheating the \patriots typically get away with it more then most, although Chip Kelly thrived on it as well.

I think of this tactic about the same as leaping over the snapper to block a FG. Totally within the rules, smart play, but still seems somehow against the spirit of the game.

But I'm old and cranky, so you can all ignore me.

Yep, designate a fall guy on any given play.

so this is a counter to that tactic. whats a counter to this tactic that the offense can throw back? LMAO

imagine that? just a bunch of counter tactic combos going back and forth to really piss off the refs and people that care about the spirit of the game?

sounds like a good SNL skit or something.

I have debate going at work on whether or not Aaron Rodgers constantly catching teams with 12 men on the field for a 5 yard penalty and/or a free play (which is almost always a long pass) is 'cheap' or not.

I don't remember the Cowboys being caught by this earlier this season.

My personal opinion is it is a legit tactic, however, I have a number of buddies who believe it's a BS cheap tactic and mastering the way Rodgers has and using it as a 'strategy' is goes against the spirit of the game.

What do you think?

It's tacky. I also believe the play should be blown dead when it happens.
I hate "free" plays in general.

Defenses should be prepared .......if all the OL and WR can lineup then the D should be able to make a switch............just gotta hustle on/off the field......go straight off, not to the coaches

But I would definitely use the fake injury once or twice to mess up the tempo

Dallas should have a code word they can shout if it's a free play then they just tackle/hold all the receivers,,, 5 yard penalty either way.
