Quincy Carter: 'I didn't want to smoke my life away anymore'

Actually I would think about it since it does seem that Brad has no arm left at all.

Personally I don't think he has a problem with pot. I think it's cocaine he struggles with. Remember, it is Quincy who has proclaimed it was pot as the reason for failed drug tests. The Nfl due to the privacy act has never given a reason for the failed drug test, just that he failed it. I remember reading an article once mentioning him doing coke at the college level . I cannot see pot having such a strangle hold on a person that they would throw their whole career away. Cocaine is extremely addictive and a person will sell their soul to get it. I know, I got a kilo for mine. I was fortunate and was able to swing a deal and get my soul back. Some people never do. Once you get it beat, you can sit back and just enjoy your free trip around the sun every year. Hopefully the Q man has his mind right and will simply enjoy many free trips around the sun . I just don't want him riding in the BACK seat with us when he does.

No - he has/had an ALCOHOL problem that led him to pot. I never really heard coke - and all accounts were he failed for Pot.

Sounds by all accounts he had a good workout with Miami. Not sure what hurt is in giving him a shot at #3. We have no developmentals on roster and Brad Johnson is 40 and sucks.

Downside here? We cut him, heck carried 2 QB's in BP era some

I still have nothing against Q. I wish him the best and hope he can find a job in the NFL playing QB. I always liked this guy for some reason, heres hoping he finally has his life in order.

You may not have heard "coke" but it was "coke" that was the big problem. Coke just doesn't hang around in the blood long like pot does. So it was coke and pot technically. And you want to risk the Cowboys on this?

So now I get it.

Known coach-ignoring, backroom-politicking, completely unreliable druggie QB makes team = Good.

Hard-working UFA "local" WR makes roster as 53rd man = 5-11 RUE.

I wish nothing but the best for him. Maybe he'll get a shot in the NFL or keep playing in the AFL. Never understood the venom for him after he was cut. The dude F'ed up -- and I'm sure everyone here has too in their life.

What I was told from someone inside the program is that he smoked crack a good bit in college (among other things) and that was his drug of choice. He was a major problem/distraction on the team but was never disciplined because of his status...

I was told this before he ever played a down for us. I was also told that to lay money on the fact that he would be out of the league in short order because of drugs...

Take it for what it's worth... probably nothing... but this person was right...

The son of the owner of the company I work for was a High School All Star baseball player and so was Quincy. I don't know who sponsors them, maybe McDonalds lile they do the HS basketball all stars.

Keith told me Quincy bragged to fellow HS all stars about doing coke. Take it for what it is worth.

I am extremely anti-drugs and I have never in my life heard of someone needing rehab for pot.

I don't hate Carter I'm just glad that bus has left Dallas never to return again.

Quincy won 10 games with a terrible inherited 5-11 roster in 2003.

Why is he a worse #3 than what we have? And let him challenge Brad Johnson. I have more confidence in a sober 30 year old QC than a 40 year old Brad Johnson if Romo went down.
Why is this post not a surprise? I'm not a huge BJohnson fan, but really...

too late, quincy..... :spanking:

I like this image. I'm going to steal it. Every now and then a poster shares something personal that makes you sit up and remember there are people behind the screen names we argue with day after day. Pretty cool, ndanger.
