53 isn't big enough for a KR specialist. It's just not that big of a part of the game anymore to justify it. Almost everything is a touchback
Punt returner maybe, but not KR.

Some returners are good on coverage teams also which can get them a spot even if they don't have a role on offense or defense.

To tm's question... Marshall alum, so I've paid attention to UCF through the years. CFL? Nah. Except for when Rakeem Cato was starting last season for Montreal... but even then, not much... don't know about anyone else, but it's hard for me to watch those games... their rules aren't complicated, but to me they just lead to such a drab contest.

To his and jobber's comments... already on record that Switzer has a roster spot if he performs to any degree in TC, but that's a bit short of the term "lock"... he's not a lock. He would not be the first 4th round draft choice to disappoint. *Far* from it. Plenty of them through the years. Again, though... he will have a lot of leash because it appears they're pretty much set on losing Lucky, which is obviously the primary competition.

Then... tm, if Sean Jackson can play outside, this guy can play outside and that's what he's pretty much done.

But... finally... I don't think McDuffie's competition can be narrowed down to Switzer or Butler... if a guy like McDuffie shines in TC, this coaching staff has shown that they'll go one extra man than what anyone thought they would at a given spot. What I don't know... and neither do you guys or anyone else... is (a) how Switzer or McDuffie or any of these inexperienced guys will perform in preseason, and (b) how healthy McDuffie's going to prove to be.
