Quinn Ewers impact

I think the Cowboys should draft a young QB but it is not really a need. I certainly would not draft a QB in round 1. IMO, Ewers but has a strong accurate arm and IMO, accuracy is huge for the NFL. I watch all the UT games and he has come a long way as a leader. IMO, has a 2nd round floor and would be best served going to NFL to carry a clipboard for a year to get it out of the way. All the issues mentioned seem all fixable. I don't see him as a choker. He led many 4th Q drives for TD's when needed in close games in the toughest conference in college. Texas has to move on to Arch. Ewers either hits xfer portal or goes pro. He'd look good at IU.

2 other QBs that would interest me later in draft are Roark from IU and Leonard on ND. Both should be available in 4th but who knows. On Leonard, the team drafting him would have to believe they can fix his throwing mechanics because he has not been accurate at all. Kid is big, fast and strong and competitive as F. Roark can throw the ball. He struggled under pressure but reports are he played the entire year with torn ACL.

I'd concentrate on the lines in round 1 but would not complain if Jeanty is picked. I'd love to see the cowboys get Jeanty but Skatebo is really impressive for a guy who will likely be late 3rd or 4th rounder. I've read his 40 time is 4.5 and if he reaches that in the combine then that would be similar time of Brock Bowers who was 4.55. Don't care if it is RB vs TE. Raiders will use Bowers as WR and like an H-Back a lot and start playing Mayer a lot next year. Skatebo is a really good receiver also.

IMO, Skatebo and Leonard added to the backfield could make for a big power running game down the road. Of course if Leonard were to pan it out as a QB, he wouldn't play much until Dak is gone so there would be like 3 years to develop his throwing mechanics if that is the issue. If he doesn't pan out at QB, he is an NFL caliber athlete that could probably play another position. Can he catch the ball as receiver. His 40 is faster than Kupp. Kupp is such a great route runner.

Look, I’m burnt orange through and through, but Quinn isn’t a day one pick. In fact, he might want to consider returning his senior season for another program at the reported $6m payday.
You think Texas will let him start over Manning if he returns? :omg:

Honestly, I believe most UT folks are of the belief Quinn will be moving on after this season, be it into in portal or the draft.

Barring something catastrophic, Arch will be behind center when the team opens in Columbus.

Ewers is the definition of "System QB"

Even if he played for Shanahan's system, I don't think he'd be as good as Purdy (who is arguably not even that good anyway)

another "DO NOT DRAFT" QB,i would rather take a flyer on Rourke in the 7th RD than draft Ewers.

I kind of like Ewers. He's got such a quick effortless release, strong arm, it's hard not to see the potential there. His pocket presence is trash. I think he could be a good pick in the 6 that could develop into a backup QB. The Dalton comparison earlier isn't bad. But Dalton was IIRC picked in the 3rd or 4th.

I think Ewers should do like Carson Beck. Get more experience in a new offense, and build your stock back up to 1st round hopefully, meanwhile, pocketing $6M.
