Mazi was nothing to brag about yesterday, but honestly thought he was OK. He’s getting off the ball a lot better recently, is doing a decent job fighting double teams, and on the few pass reps he got he did decent.

He’s still getting washed down a little too often, struggles to fight off blocks that aren’t straight up, but all in all the guy is massively improved from the start of the season.

Mazi did ok. I see improvement there. His trajectory is where we should expect it for a DT tackle coming into the league. The missed tackles and business decisions early became a big issue. The refs polished us off when we did have any real success. Then we made legit dumb penalties on top of it all that hampered us all day. It was truly a complete loss in every way imaginable.

.. how do you fix the tackling issues?

Get a bunch of duffel bags with numbers on them, throw them up in the air and tackle them.

I thought Mazi Smith was a freak? He was square last night alright, square right on his *** or on skates in Damone Clarks lap .
Damona wasn't doing anything her damn self. Running into the backfield looking lost, whiffing on tackles in the open field, getting burned to a crisp in coverage. I thought this dude was supposed to be a sideline to sideline player? He doesn't look any different from Jaylon Smith

Do you think Mazi is playing strong and square?
F no. I think he dd have 1 sack and made a couple tackles but largely he was manhandled like you would expect a rookie DT. I did see some improvement at times and like I said, he had a sack. Baby steps with him. Year 2 is when we need to see alot more from him. Right now it just isnt realistic.

she(Micah) sure puts on a nice podcast. Too bad she does all her talking during the game instead of the job she gets paid for. Lets send out an APB for her, because damn....THAT was a clusterbleep effort. Invisible.

One announcer noted that the C'boys' defense is set up to stop the pass, but now they can't stop the run -- surely got me to thinking . . .
I'll bet that missing some of our better defensive tacklers didn't help our cause, however. Let's hope that'll improve versus the Dolphins! :omg:

A real coach doesn’t sugarcoat that crap sandwich. A real coach lights his guys up and leverages this stinker so his guys are pissing vinegar as they head into the playoffs.

That effort was atrocious and unacceptable.

Starting to see how DQ loses a 28-3 lead in the super bowl. Handing out participation trophies when you should be handing out butt chewings is pretty revealing

Maybe he’s already focused on his new HC gig

After rewatching most of the game, I think Mazi was ok. Not great but ok. He got blown up a couple of times on double team blocks, but I am not sure Hankins would have done any better on those blocks. Mazi has that problem where he is slow getting off and that puts him at a disadvantage. He does try to square up and he is clearly strong but when the OL gets a head start he is fighting momentum, a OL on the move.
