Cowboys DC Dan Quinn when asked about the Eagles’ tush push play: “For us, (defending it) won’t be exactly what we’ve done or shown before. It’ll be something that we have to do a little bit different. … It’ll be a tough challenge, but one we’re definitely up for.”

“It gets a lot of attention, but those throws to A.J. Brown go a lot further than that one-yard sneak. … They got a bunch of explosive plays that are at the front of my thinking first, but because third and forth downs are so critical and their time of possession, you better be able to get some stops.”

If any team gets into 3rd and one they would have a similar success rate if they were smart enough to run a sneak.

If it's in the redzone I say go all out, however if it's midfield you just have to bite the bullet and hope you can stop them from getting 3rd or 4th and 1 the next possession.

They are starting to do counters off of the tush push. I'd rather they pick up 1 yard they're 99 percent going to get than gash us for a touchdown.

It’s dirty but true. If you want to put your QB in a scrum you expose them. Nasty stuff happens in a pile. RBs have a short lifespan for a reason.
That’s it. Hurt him one time and the play is over.

Based on short Yardage plays this year I’d say odds are they won’t be stopping it.

Gotta change the momentum of the flow.

I'll guarantee Tom Landry would come up with a new and different strategy against it ala The Flex Defense.(Magnum version)

It works because:

1. The Eagles have the best O-line in the league

and

2. Hurts can squat two Mack trucks.

Nobody is going to consistently stop it.
Half the time hurts isn't even on the ground. He's just pushed up on the backs of the O-line.

Here's what you do. Get all your guys up there like normal. But, at the snap, they all drop and lie flat on the ground. The line all fall down because they were anticipating pushing into someone but they aren't there. Then your LB dives head first into Hurts. Boom, the play is banned in the off-season.

I don't think it has anything to do with Hurts. It's all the OL, and particularly Kelce.

If you watch the plays, Hurts and the "pushers" aren't really doing much to make a difference.

It's the second part of that quote that matters.

"Those throws to A.J. Brown go a lot further than that one-yard sneak. … They got a bunch of explosive plays that are at the front of my thinking first”

Can we please stop with the nonsense that Philly is some physical, mauling team now? They are built around an explosive passing offense.

Total waste of time talking about it. We are a pass rush team, not a rush defense. Best thing you can do is focus on the longer yardage plays, and hope it doesn't get to this too often. That goes for any team we play this year, not just the "Tush Push Specialists."

But the reason for their short life span isnt because of scrums.
