All he has to say is "of course they are" why try to sugar coat it. The answer is 100 % yes. There isn't a single human on the earth that could be 100 % focused on their job while doing job interviews during lunch. Sorry. The NFL has to change this stupid rule that active coaches in the playoffs can interview for another job.

Sounds like he really wants to leave to me…..
I don’t think his motivation is “I want to leave Dallas”.
I think his motivation is “I want another shot at being a head coach”, and if the right opportunity outside of Dallas presents itself, he’ll take it.

I think he’d probably be interested in the HC gig in Dallas, but it’s looking like that job won’t be open for at least another year.

You bet it is a distraction for Quinn, AND for the team. Imagine you are working at a company and your supervisor/boss is interviewing for other jobs, aren't you gonna be looking at him differently during the time he is still there? Plus he will have less of a concern on your performance short term, no matter what comes out of his mouth. Human nature.

Idiot rule, but what do you expect?

It does seem a bit ridiculous that they can’t come up with a better way to handle this.

Doesn’t seem all that difficult to not allow it until after the conference championships.

Nonsense! Every other coordinator who interviewed while working for a playoff team including ones whose team eventually won the SB managed. Head coaches need to be able to multitask. This is an essential process that they are going to need to be able to handle. Never been an issue with any other team, so why should it be with our fan base?

Because our fans seem to be afraid of their own shadow. lol

No matter what people say it’s a major distraction. Dallas has 6 days to prep and a long flight to SF. Injuries. New challenges. It’s a lot. The league has to figure out a way to hold off interviews and hiring until after the playoffs. Maybe it starts in the extra week before the SB.

That was a well-thought out, intelligent response. The media is always geared to swarm after getting a quote that sounds even remotely controversial. Quinn simply stating 'Yes. I am distracted.' or something similar would have triggered almost every media member into cornering everyone else associated with the team and asking THEM, "How do you feel about Coach Quinn being distracted with his interviewing while preparing for the divisional matchup with the 49ers?"

AND some of the soundbite hunters will still do so anyway. However, some of the media will take into consideration what Quinn actually said, weigh it and settle upon a different angle with their questions or discarding questions concerning his interviewing altogether. Additionally, what Quinn actually said will quickly circulate among players, etc., so that it is already known before the media attempts to twist Quinn's comment into a pretzel of a different meaning.

Quinn gained experience by going through the process several times in the past. He is not unlike any other job seeker of a new job who has done the dance before. Knowing how an interview will be conducted and knowing exactly what to say in an interview instills confidence. Confidence minimizes and quiets distraction. Smart man. Smart answer.

There's no way they're not a distraction.

You shouldn't be allowed to interview coaches until their season is over.
Totally agree. The way the NFL allows tampering with coaches while the season is still in play is mind boggling. IMO there should be a moratorium on coaching hires until the day after the SB. They don’t allow FA players to be contacted before a certain date- seems fair to extend that to the coaching ranks.

One thing is for sure- the only reason this is allowed is because that’s the way the owners want it. Nothing like this happens without their consent.

He is focused. These interviews are done on ZOOM or another video conferencing platform.
Everything they know about SF and the game plan is already in place.

This is not a distraction.
Seriously, how long does it take to interview for a job?
