Totally agree. The way the NFL allows tampering with coaches while the season is still in play is mind boggling. IMO there should be a moratorium on coaching hires until the day after the SB. They don’t allow FA players to be contacted before a certain date- seems fair to extend that to the coaching ranks.

One thing is for sure- the only reason this is allowed is because that’s the way the owners want it. Nothing like this happens without their consent.
True I get that things happen quick in the NFL the college all star bowl games will be happening then the Combines in Feb and teams want to have people in place ahead of all of those things.

All he has to say is "of course they are" why try to sugar coat it. The answer is 100 % yes. There isn't a single human on the earth that could be 100 % focused on their job while doing job interviews during lunch. Sorry. The NFL has to change this stupid rule that active coaches in the playoffs can interview for another job.
So a football coach talking about football is a distraction...

I feel Quinn is another, Wade Phillips. A knack for defense specialty.

HC, is another whole ball game. He was avg Joe, at HC. Organizations, dont want avg Joes..lol..

Anyways, good luck to his HC endeavors, if they materialize.

Nonsense! Every other coordinator who interviewed while working for a playoff team including ones whose team eventually won the SB managed. Head coaches need to be able to multitask. This is an essential process that they are going to need to be able to handle. Never been an issue with any other team, so why should it be with our fan base?
Please find where I say it's only a distraction for the Cowboys coaches. It's a distraction for every single coach on every single team in the league, and it needs to be fixed. If you don't think so it's just because you're trying to be argumentative. I want you to go sit with all your fellow employees at lunch and do job interviews next to them and see if everyone just goes about their day like nothing has happened. Better yet, wait until your work is at it's absolute most brutal part of the year and then go to your boss and tell him you're going to start interviewing for another job.

There really needs to be a new rule that makes it so interviews cannot be held until after the SB. I know the organizations looking for HC's need time to interview multiple candidates and evaluate them, but it really hurts the organization they currently work for in terms of preparation and having them mentally locked in. I don't know what it takes to be an OC or DC, but I can imagine when going through their game plan its quite extensive and requires hours and hours prep and planning.

All of the coaches in the playoffs interviewing are going through this. Some of these and round 1 so the teams are just deciding if this is a candidate they are willing to wait on.

Interesting that all of the coaches, GM's and owners seem to be on board with this process.

It can't not be something of a distraction. But he is doing what he can to minimize it and keep his focus on the upcoming opponent.

At the end of the day, a strong defensive performance and a deep playoff run are what is going to get him hired next, not a 30 minute zoom call.

To do it well takes a lot of prep.
On the part of the interviewer. The interviewee just has to answer questions, for the most part. I'm sure he has everything he wants to convey written down already.

Lol, and yet it’s never bee an issue with anyone until this year. The 9ers DC is interviewing with the same teams as Quinn, nothing about it being a distraction coming out of there… because it’s nonsense!
