Has anyone else done it? I was on MySpace, then switched to Facebook, like everyone else. I networked with a Ton of Cowboys fan on FB. I finally just deactivated my account 3 months ago, and it's the best thing I've done. Social Media isn't good for people that deal with depression, like myself. But more than anything, I don't care. I don't care about your ugly baby. I don't care about the food you just ate. I don't care about your political stance. I don't want to hear about #blacklivesmatter. I don't care about your fake life.

Have any of you done the same? It's the most. Liberating thing. All my REAL friends have my number.

I've mostly done it. I just check facebook once a month because that's how a lot of RL friends and family schedule get-togethers and such. Otherwise I don't bother and it's very liberating.

Never had any of them. I only have anonymous CowboysZone, Punndits and Reddit accounts. I have a cell phone, a personal email, a work email, and Slack messenger for work. Oh and LinkedIn with no picture.

ive never started either. If i havent tried to contact you by phone in 10 years its because i dont really want to. I dont want a facebook page with people trying to reconnect with me and i dont like my personal information or goings on to be read by anyone who wants to check on me. Just not interested at all.

i stopped using Facebook when it went public and that was around the time i finished my undergrad. it was very useful during my college tenure (when it required a college email to join.) i cant remember the last time i logged on.

I've hated MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter since their birth. The only social media platform I frequent is Google Plus. I seldom post there, but I really enjoy following engineers, scientists, and Astrophotographers. I tend to avoid the useless ***hats who post political or religious stuff and of course attention ******.

I really don't use Reddit either, except for if I'm looking for information on a specific subject matter. There are some knowledgeable people on there if you can sort through the backwash.

I hate reality TV, so it's a given that I would hate those *other* social media sites.

I think these things are becoming way too invasive. A few examples. I was reluctant to get LinkedIn. I didn't want to but was highly advised to. As soon as I registered, I got friend requests from people I emailed years ago who I didn't want to have anything to do with. I guess everyone you've ever emailed can see you just got on LinkedIn. Another example happened this morning. I have a personal Gmail account. My wife's birthday is Thursday so I reserved a fancy restaurant and some other things for us but wanted to surprise her. She works for Amazon Echo so we have one at home with a lot of exclusive features that she can test. She asked it something this morning and Echo misheard her and thought she asked for her schedule. Well, it was linked to my Gmail account. Apparently emails with reservation information automatically get synced to your Google Calendar. So I'm brushing my teeth as I hear Echo reciting my whole surprise to my wife. That was great.

LOL, that sucks. But it will be a funny story for yall to tell later. I have gotten a lot of requests to my email saying someone is waiting for me to add them on linkedin - if I happen to still be in touch with them I just say im not on that.

Facebook is decent if you use a fake name and invite no one or accept any invite. I use it for music/sports info and to check in places when i travel.

Facebook has came in handy to get back in touch old army friends.

Had to keep track of them when they move to different duty stations over the years or if they left the army.

So it has helped me reconnect with some of them.

Other than that it is nothing really special. Use it, don't use it...no big deal really.

I like Twitter for sports updates on the go.

I deactivated my Facebook and twitter nearly 4 months ago now (after a breakup), and I am so glad I did.

I'm concentrating on myself now and not worrying about what everyone else is doing. I wish I had got off of them way sooner!

Social Media = Massive Time Suck

When you're gone no one is going to remember you for all the good things you accomplished on social media...

Could say the same about forums but I won't go there. :D
