Another year with very similar movies coming out at around the same time. In the past we had:

"Deep Impact" or "Armageddon"

"Volcano" or "Dante's Peak"

"Saving Private Ryan" or "The Thin Red Line"

Will you go see either of these two new ones?

'White House Down' Trailer: A More Serious White House Terrorist Movie

Hollywood's affinity with making two of the same movie usually ends up giving us, well, two bad movies. This year's attempt to disappoint us twice comes in the form of films where the President gets kidnapped or the White House attacked or both, and one rogue secret service agent has to protect and/or save hiim.

We already got the first film this past weekend in Olympus Has Fallen starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman, and it was surprisingly good (our review is forthcoming). Can Hollywood impress us twice? That's up to Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx and director Roland Emmerich, with White House Down and the first trailer is now up and online for us to judge.

Already saw the first one, and outside of it being a lot more violent than I expected, it was pretty terrible. White House Down looks like it has a much higher budget and will probably be a much more polished film. We'll see if it's any good.
