I understand and acknowledge that losing to Saints without Brees and to Packers at home without Adams is very disappointing. Being 5-0 or 4-1 rather than 3-2 would be awesome.

If we look into these games, we really could be 5-0 at this point, it takes minor adjustments. Really, we pounded the Packers but had freak mistakes that caused us to fall into a hole early and the Saints game was there for the taking.

But put things into perspective, a 3-2 record is on pace for 9-6, so you are looking at 9-7 or 10-6, about where the team was projected to be prior to the season, and this has been a disappointing start.

If the team wins its next 3 games that they are favored in, we will all of a sudden be top Super Bowl contenders, again.

The season has ebbs & flows -- the past 2 games put us on a downward spiral -- but I'm hopeful and confident that the team will be humbled by this experience & pick up their game moving forward.

These are three games we are favored to win by Vegas -- we could be 6-2 in a matter of a few weeks.

I'm not ready to push the panic button yet, not even close really. In fact, we're extremely fortunate that Tyron & La'el are both day to day, and we have not had any severe injuries.

Relax guys, we are not in a bad spot at this point in the season. The team must humble themselves, adjust & adapt, and become better for the end of the season.

But, a loss to NYJ would certainly change my tone.

While I appreciate your attempts at staying positive, I think your thread title is a poor choice of words.

It comes off as smug, and a team that's just lost two games to the two decent teams it's faced hasn't earned the right to do smug, nor have its fans.

I think we will have a tough time against the Jets.
Run D can't stop Bell, Darnold will be back, but which Darnold will we see.
They also will get a few other players back, and it is an away game.

Eagles seem to be getting their issues worked out and going back to NY for the Giants and seem they will have Barkley back as well, and a better QB in Jones though he is still learning too. But does anyone think our lame defense can fool a rookie. And Garrett teams always come out flat after the bye week.

We may be 3-5 again at the half way point. But this team and especially the defense does not have the same feel as last years team. Don't be surprised if we lose all 3, then more after that.

Then again, they could go on another 7-1 run as last year starting against the Jets. But I am not going to fool myself into thinking that is possible. Not after these past 2 games.

Like you, my confidence in this team has been sorely shaken.

And guess what fellas? It's their fault for that, not mine.

Being upset with their losing doesn't make you, me, or anyone else a 'bad fan', despite what some people would try to have you believe.

The scoreboard says this:

Record against the worst teams in the league? 3-0

Record against two good ones? 0-2

It's so sad that fans of the Dallas Cowboys can now come to terms annually with mediocrity.

1. If we win the next 3 games, we will be considered contenders again? Possibly. But I find it funny that you didn't list the games after that. What about the games after that? Vikings, Lions, Pats... I could continue. We will likely lose those games if Dallas plays the way they did against GB against these other contending teams. We won't be considered contenders for long.

2. I wouldn't hold my breath for these games. Jets have one of the best RB's in the league. Yes, he's only had 2.9 yards per carry so far this season, but the Jets have played marvelous defenses (Bills, Pats, Browns, and Eagles all have relatively good run D's). Aaron Jones ran all day against us, imagine the field day Le'veon will have. It will likely be his breakout game. We have yet to face NYG with Daniel Jones, who is miles ahead of Eli, and Saquon will likely be back for that game against our terrible, likely unimproved and adjusted run-D. Philly is a tough opponent, and even though we are at home, it proves that it doesn't really serve us an advantage (look at our slow start against Miami and our terrible game against GB). Wentz with D-Jax will be terrible for our average secondary.

3.We were favored by Vegas to win against NO and GB but 3+ points, however, those games proved him and his AI's wrong.

4. Hopefully it will change JJ's tone as well.

I will reserve judgment until after 10/20 when they play Philly... Every team gets punched in the mouth over the course of a season. Adversity strikes in a number of ways.

For Dallas-- they simply have been unable to play focused, disciplined, clean football-- and they over-estimated their talent and ability on defense. They have to dig down, come together, and forge their identity this season. We have seen them bounce back from adversity before-- but it remains to be seen what happens in 2019.

As you point out-- we could be 6-2 in three weeks and the confidence is back and we are putting distance between these ugly losses. OR-- this team folds like a cheap cardboard box under the pressure of expectations, contract stalemates, and a stubborn coaching staff that refuses to change or adapt to how teams are playing them.

There lies the problem. This team isn't a unit. I look at teams like the 49ers, the Seahawks, the Ravens- teams that are winning, and I see teams that love the game. They love their teammates. They love to come together. They are a true unit and they play like a unit with good chemistry. They play with a passionate energy. This Dallas team is the opposite. Everyone looks depressed on the sideline. Everyone looks like they're ready to go home. I see no energy within this team. I see no team playing. I see individuals playing. Everyone playing for themselves, but not the team. Even during the games they were winning, everyone was sitting there looking borderline suicidal. I'm not sure if there is a locker room problem or if this is on the coaching, but something has to change. A team that doesn't play together doesn't win together.

R-E-L-A-X... that does not work here. That was something Aaron Rodgers used to calm the fears of Packers fans. We don't have an Aaron Rodgers backing up those words. We all see with our own eyes how this team consistently shoots itself in the foot. There is no reason for any Cowboys fan to relax.

Beating the Jets/Giants plus the Eagles does not make us contenders. The Eagles would be a really nice win but we are still far from contenders. Everything you say is what we have been saying the entire time under Garrett. "We need to clean up those mistakes and we can win". When will that ever actually happen? Hasn't yet. His teams are never prepared and play flat way too often, especially when it matters. Most NFL games are going to be close by nature.

This team is not responding to JG. To many mental errors and failure of assignments.

Yeah....well that's been going on for over 20 years now. Time to stop relaxing, start getting intense.......but don't hold your breath, not with these cowboys.
.
The early 90s cowboys used to eat the 49s for dinner and have GBP for desert.
