(CNN)Actor Powers Boothe, known for his roles in "Sin City," "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," and "Deadwood," has died at 68, his publicist, Karen Samfilippo, said.

The Emmy-winning actor passed away Sunday of natural causes in his sleep at his Los Angeles home.
A private service will be held in his home state of Texas, Samfilippo said.

Red Dawn will always be the role I most remember him by. By Dawns Early Light is the second. There was a bunch of stuff he was in that I really liked.

This always depresses me even though it is inevitable. Too soon.

RIP a great actor and from all accounts a fine man, wonderful husband and father.

Booth was Judge Valentine Wall Hatfield

it was actually a pretty good min-series.

Not a bad cast, really

I was born and raised in North Carolina, but my dad and his preceding family were from WVa.
They have some pretty crazy old photos. The West Virginia historical society even borrowed some for their exhibits.

About 20 years ago I was working with a pretty young kid and we were talking about a movie he was in and the kid asked me what that guys name was in the movie, so I told him, and this dudes face lit up in genuine delight after hearing what it was,,, " POWERS man, what a badass name that is ."
He kept smiling and talking about it all that day,,,, that kid cleaned his ears out with a 12 ga. About 3 years later,,,,
