Source: McFadden Still On Radar

By Rafael Vela

A source I spoke to last night said the Cowboys are still examining a move up to claim Arkansas RB Darren McFadden, should he slip past Oakland at pick four. Jerry Jones yesterday mentioned the prohibitive costs of signing a top five pick but I’ve been told New England and even the Jets at pick six could serve as trade partners. The deal would involve shipping both of Dallas’ number ones in exchange for the highly regarded back.

Ladies and gentlemen, what day is this?

Raiders shopping D-Mac?

Well, they wouldn't exactly be shopping Darren McFadden. But they are putting a "For Sale" sign in front of the pick that could become him.

Chances are pretty strong that Miami, St. Louis and Atlanta will all pass on the Arkansas phenom. And while there have been indications that Al Davis is fascinated by McFadden, ESPN newcomer Bill Williamson -- the well-respected long-time Denver Post writer who just made the jump -- has Lane Kiffin a little less enthralled.

"[McFadden] is a phenomenal player .... But we really don't have a big need at running back," Kiffin said.

As is always the case, the Cowboys are mentioned as a possible trading partner. In case you missed, Jerry Jones, talking to our own Hall of Famer Rick Gosselin, shot the D-Mac-to-Dallas rumblings down for the zillionth time in today's paper.

only way i dont want McFadden is if we get Roy from the Lions for 1 of our 1st rd picks. i think though its more likely now that we get Roy or even Boldin than we get Run DMC...

where there is smoke ....there is fire.

Where there's smoke, there's a fat blunt a burnin, because people have got to be smokin some stuff to think we're trading up for McFadden. It's not happening people, its just being reported because its a "sexy" story. Thats it.

It's probably Rick Gosselin, so he can justify writing another "Jones not trading up for McFadden" story.

I'd prefer a veteran WR and other draft picks at RB and CB. I think it puts us over the top. Trading up to get him, does not.

I am all for getting McFadden IF we sign Pacman, are not able to trade for Roy Williams or Chad Johnson, AND trading up will only cost our two first. Should this scenario play out, I say get 'er done. We can still get a CB and WR in rounds 2 and 3.

no flip floppin here...I have been very outspoken about wanting him and hoping we get him, but the realist in me sees its a longshot because I really dont think the Raiders will pass him up...I hope they do and I hope the Jets do too, but just dont see it

no question in my mind he's by far the best player in the draft and would have the biggest impact of any player we could draft
