Teams desperately want out of the top 5 positions in the draft. Its just so expensive. You offer a 22 and a 28 and there are several teams starting with the raiders that very well could pull the trigger. Remember, this is a very deep draft, and having two number 1's is pretty sweet deal.

Source: McFadden Still On Radar

By Rafael Vela

A source I spoke to last night said the Cowboys are still examining a move up to claim Arkansas RB Darren McFadden, should he slip past Oakland at pick four. Jerry Jones yesterday mentioned the prohibitive costs of signing a top five pick but I’ve been told New England and even the Jets at pick six could serve as trade partners. The deal would involve shipping both of Dallas’ number ones in exchange for the highly regarded back.

Ladies and gentlemen, what day is this?

Tuesday? or 4/1/08

How would it be a waste of picks? Would we really be wasting our two number ones?
Yes. We can get two sound players with our picks. One being a corner and fingers crossed a vet WR.

I would love to have Roy Williams on the other side of T.O., but what our offense and for that matter, the whole team needs is an upgrade of pure, unadulterated, SPEED!

McFadden would bring a dimension to this offense that would literally put DCs in fear. He is one of those players, like Bo Jackson and OJ Simpson, who put you on the edge of your seat and literally make you hold your breath if they are on the opposing team. Every time they carry the ball you say under your breath..."Get him, tackle him", because you know if he gets a seam he is gone!

One, I don't see us taking a corner if we get Pacman. Now, if we use a pick to get a vet WR, then I'm all for it. But if we can't do that, then I don't see how it would be wasted by trading for Dmac.

Why do you not see us taking a corner if we get Pac?

I believe Jerry would use the acquisition of Pacman to expand what we can do in the draft since we wouldn't need to pick a corner that high just to be a 4th CB. JMHO

I think we'll take one, but probably not in the first round. Probably be looking at players like Tracy Porter and Charles Godfrey in the second.

Sorry, not on board. I would like a running back. I just don't see it as being a good choice. I dvr'd three of the Arkansas games last year (since there was speculation that DMac was our target.) I am no judge of college talent. However, my recent experience was I didnt think Reggie Bush was special (I only saw a few games too), I did think Adrian Peterson was special. (I watched most of his games since am an OU fan.) So, I am two for two. - what a sample size :)

Watching the films. Darren McFadden looks good and he looks fast. However, he looks like most college fast backs to me. If he was there at 22 or 28, I would probably say yes. (I am sure most teams would say hell yes.) I just have trouble giving up two picks and the cap money that it would cost. My bust detector is just going wild on the guy.

However, I liked the style of Felix Jones better in the games I watched. If I was worried about the return game I would want him more.

I thought exactly like you did on Bush and Peterson. But, in the games I watched of McFadden (which was more than three since I live where a lot of SEC games are televised) he just took over the game. He singlehandedly beat #1 LSU and brought Arkansas back from a huge deficit against Alabama, a game Ark. should have won if not for a miracle drive at the end. I think DMac is special. I'm not going to attack you just because you disagree with me on this point. Me thinking that DMac is worth moving up to get is JMHO. Well, 2/3 ain't bad.:D

Moving up for a running back isn't wise... I'd rather give up a 1st round pick for a guy like Roy Williams or Boldin.

It seems to me vela can say anything he wants and just simply cite a source...I am sure he is above that but I am just saying.

I wonder what his source could be, I dont understand why any actual cowboy employee would tell a non media member inside information, unless his source is a media member. Its interesting to me anyway.
