The JaMarcus Russell era has ended.

For now.

Raiders coach Tom Cable, who yanked Russell for Bruce Gradkowski during Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Chiefs, said Wednesday that Gradkowski is the new starter.

Per RaiderBeat.com, Cable called the move an "easy decision."

Through nine starts in 2009, Russell has a passer rating of 47.7, with two touchdown passes and nine interceptions. For his career, the first overall pick in the 2007 draft has a passer rating of 65.5.

Gradkowski's first Raiders start will come against the 7-2 Bengals. The former Toledo Rocket started 11 games as a Buccaneers rookie in 2006 and one with the Browns in 2008.

NOOOOooooooOOO...

I want Jamarcus to start against us. Gradkowski is actually half way decent..

Sucks for us. I was hoping our D would get to face useless Russell.

Regardless. He is a off the bench QB. We should beat him down. Never let him get confidence. Make him pay for every completion.

We need to pad our defensive stats man!

****Flashbacks to 2006 of Gradkowski play-action passing and hitting Galloway for the deep ball on Thanksgiving****

Oh, who's this Gradkowski fella?

Pointless. Gradkowski is not the future, so why are they doing this? To win some meaningless games? They're only retarding Russell's development.

Russell's development became ******** the day he cashed that signing bonus check :D

Think of what you just did. You just used Russell, development and retardation in the same sentence without saying that Russell is developing retardation.

Don't worry,we'll probably get Charlie Fry next week after they get crushed this week.:laugh2:

lol at people getting all worked up about Brucce Gradkowski. I wouldn't get too worried. ;) Remember, you complain because you don't think you have a #1 Wide Receiver. Oakland has proved they don't have a #1, #2, or #3.

Flashbacks to 2006 of us blowing Tampa Bay completely out.

Thats what I recall as well. I dont remember being even remotely impressed with their QB. I do recall CZ experts telling us how good he was though.

For those that dont recall, we won the game 38-10. Gradkowski was 10/20 for 120 yds and 2 picks. Tampa netted a whopping 211 yds of offense under his expert play.

Romo threw 5 tds and no picks that day.

Yep, that was the day fans put Tony Romo in the Ring of Honor. :)

He was a rookie who was only playing because Simms got hurt.

I remember that Thanksgiving very well. Graced the Texas Stadium turf, met Troy Aikman, and saw our budding superstar QB in action for the first time.
