Irvin could be the right defensive end we desperately need. Richard should have an opinion on him, they were together in Seattle for 4 years.

We've got 3 promising, young, cheap, and under contract RDEs to develop. We don't need to sign a 30+ vet to keep them off the field.

DAL does need somebody to harass QB from the RE spot. But, getting Irving at 8M seems a bit much. He could really help this team, so hope Bruce clears waviers, then helps DLaw.

Gregory is hurt, Taco is out of position, and Armstrong is not ready.

Plus, the Amari Cooper trade tells me this FO thinks we can win this year. Irvin would improve the defense now.

It would stunt growth.

It would improve the pass rush.

Improved pass rush would improve chances of winning.

We want to win.
If this team were 100% in "win now mode" the defense isn't where they would be loading up players.
You mentioned that the Cooper signing meant this, but you're suggesting then that the DL is as bad as the WR's are. The WR's group isn't even par.

It's a sexy idea, but not a realistic one. The defensive line doesn't need players going for their next big paycheck. It's also a business, you don't throw money at every prospect with more dire needs.

And you don't go backward with the younger players.

My guess would be a team that id defensively speaking, weak and desperate.

Gregory is only questionable. More likely than not plays.

Taco. Where is he supposed to play? Maybe LDE, but we like Lawrence there. And if you think Taco is out of position at RDE, what were you thinking about Crawford? I think Taco's fine, particularly when he's splitting time with more pass rush specialists like Gregory and Armstrong.

Armstrong is the 3rd man for one position. We're giving him snaps to develop him some this year. He's ready enough for the snap count we're giving him. He's at 30%. He'll get less if Gregory can stay healthy.

Do you share those delusions that we can win this year?

Not me. Irving gone for weeks. Not up to the same level of play as last year anyway. Gregory really not living up to hopes. Lawrence behind last year's pace. Love the LBs, but the dline is not in "making a run" mode, so that Irvin is someone to put us over the top. And the offense is so bad.

I'm not up for mortgaging the money or young player development to bring on Irvin for this year.

What the H*** is going on in Oakland. Bruce Irvin would be a great rotational chess piece. releasing him does not make sense.

Gruden is rebuilding without making a formal announcement. He's got 5 first round draft picks in the next 2 years and 70 million in cap space. I like his odds better than Garrets.
