We should be really excited about Kris Richards he helped put together one of the best secondaries in the NFL. We've also thrown a lot of resources into our secondary.

I think we're in a key position to take some of the Seahawks talent here over the next couple of years.

We'll come back to that in a moment, but first, let's look at what we have now.

LCB
Byron Jones (6'0)

RCB
Chidobe Awuzie (6'1)

Slot Corner 1
Jourdan Lewis (5'10)

Slot Corner 2
Anthony Brown (5'11)

SS
Jeff Heath

FS
Xavier Woods

Already, I think we want to and need to improve at safety.

2018 Seahawks Free Agents
Bradley McDougald, SS

2019 Seahawks Free Agents
Richard Sherman, CB
Earl Thomas, FS

I'm not saying we need to sign all of these guys, though I at least want both safeties. If we don't end up re-signing Byron Jones, a stop-gap signing of Richard Sherman may help us next year, but rather than get Earl Thomas this year, we'll get him next year.

Getting McDougald upgrades from Heath immediately. Either way, I feel like the secondary will be fairly cemented in the next couple years. I look forward to seeing more aggressive play in the secondary. I would not be surprised if Marinelli who wants turnovers was very instrumental in bringing Kris Richards. He has previously brought up the Seahawks and how they play the scheme.

Other options:
Byron Maxwell to replace Benwikere

The secondary is good enough to be an above average secondary. We just need to develop the talent we have currently. Heath will be very good if he gets better coaching.

We NEED two more linebackers and a dominant 1Tech.

As much as I want a good fa signing to be excited about its not gonna happen.

Seattle may choose to resign the slightly younger MacDougald with significantly less mileage and part ways with Thomas. This is assuming they believe in him as a starting S.

Byron Jones is going to seamlessly transition to starting CB huh? Sounds like nothing could go wrong

I would like to see how the secondary continues to improve. with the changes they made late last season, as well as Baker leaving and Richard coming in. And we seen the difference Greg Jackson made also. I think we can finally get a pretty good secondary. I will not say great, as that remains to be seen. But a good to very good may happen.

Do we need a ball hawking S, yes. We have hard hitters, Heath, Frazier, Woods.
Awuzie is a hard hitter at CB. But if they do not go get that S this year, I still think there will be improvement.

I said for years Henderson and Baker needed to go, and now both are gone. If the pass rush improves even more, then can we get a "Thurman Thieves" type secondary? Remains to be seen, wishful thinking? Maybe. But I am more excited about the secondary than I have been for a good 10 years or more.

I kind of am excited about out corners. I say we let them play. Safety, however, could stand for a major improvement. I would love to have some moves made there.

I mean, really, when was the last time Dallas has an amazing/ball-hawk type safety roaming the backfield? Woodson? Maybe Roy Williams during his flash in a pan years?

Woodson and Williams weren't ball hawk type safeties. For both their value in coverage was being big hitters that would make receivers pay if they caught the ball - and make them hear footsteps.

It seems there are a lot of fans that are convinced CB is his place in the world. I'm not so sure.

I’m by no means against giving him a shot to compete at CB. Maybe he can transition and be good at CB, I don’t know. I just think it would be crazy to think of him as anything other than a wildcard at this point. Because it’s pretty clear he’s just not good enough to be a FS that makes an impact on the game, and this D really needs that. If we get something out of him at CB, great, but I don’t think you can count on him in anyway
