Raiding the Seahawks

The secondary is good enough to be an above average secondary. We just need to develop the talent we have currently. Heath will be very good if he gets better coaching.

We NEED two more linebackers and a dominant 1Tech.

Verdict would we have been better off drafting Myles Jack in the 2nd and Jaylon Smith later in that draft. Also if you heard or best guess how far do you think Jaylon would have fell

Are we putting Byron at outside corner because it’s his best position or because he’s tall?
BJones is not going back to CB

He is our best cover Safety by far and that is what he excels at...... taking on TEs across the deep middle

Like Chaz Green to Guard? Brilliant maneuver...
it wasn't the move to LG ....it was the kickout to LT...... the footwork is completely different

It is like learning to play golf left handed

We should be really excited about Kris Richards he helped put together one of the best secondaries in the NFL. We've also thrown a lot of resources into our secondary.

I think we're in a key position to take some of the Seahawks talent here over the next couple of years.

We'll come back to that in a moment, but first, let's look at what we have now.

LCB
Byron Jones (6'0)

RCB
Chidobe Awuzie (6'1)

Slot Corner 1
Jourdan Lewis (5'10)

Slot Corner 2
Anthony Brown (5'11)

SS
Jeff Heath

FS
Xavier Woods

Already, I think we want to and need to improve at safety.

2018 Seahawks Free Agents
Bradley McDougald, SS

2019 Seahawks Free Agents
Richard Sherman, CB
Earl Thomas, FS

I'm not saying we need to sign all of these guys, though I at least want both safeties. If we don't end up re-signing Byron Jones, a stop-gap signing of Richard Sherman may help us next year, but rather than get Earl Thomas this year, we'll get him next year.

Getting McDougald upgrades from Heath immediately. Either way, I feel like the secondary will be fairly cemented in the next couple years. I look forward to seeing more aggressive play in the secondary. I would not be surprised if Marinelli who wants turnovers was very instrumental in bringing Kris Richards. He has previously brought up the Seahawks and how they play the scheme.

Other options:
Byron Maxwell to replace Benwikere

Awuzie is 5'-11"

Didn't Woods play primarily in the slot this year?

Also, I don't see Jones walking in and being our starting corner. Lewis earned that. More likely he comes in when we go nickel and Lewis takes the slot

Hmm... that makes it so much better now. I guess...

A lot of our guys are ideal slot CB's.

Byron might be the biggest benefactor form Kris Richard, especially if moved back to CB.

Woods is better in the slot. Awuzie has some Honey Badger to him. Lewis played well outside but seems better suited for the slot. Scandrick, if still here next year, is one of the better slot guys around.

Anthony Brown is a break-glass-in-case-of emergency guy. Two more years of relatively cheap pay for a 4th CB.

Heath continues to be overrated here. He's a problem.

He’s best at covering slow receivers basically. Ok I can agree with that

No, Lewis didn’t earn it to some. He gets demoted for no reason at all for a workout warrior that’s 2 inches taller. The Cowboy way

There were numerous reports that the coaching staff was unhappy with Jones. No real options though as Woods was playing slot and Frazier is really just a small linebacker

I just am not convinced about Richard in terms of being some sort of savior.

I hate to go all Mickey Spagnola here, but the Seahawks are going to turnover the Legion of Boom and especially the secondary.

Sherman is coming off an Achillies, Chancellor might be done and Thomas is unhappy.

I just wonder why they didn't try to retain him instead of firing him in favor of Ken Norton.

Would stability before a youth movement be helpful?

I don’t want Lewis in the slot unless Jimmy Graham is on him again. He can handle any wr not freaking 6’7. I’m not buying this slot y’all at all. He’s a boundary corner all day until he proves he’s not. The only time I said “he was too small” was against Graham

I think it's his best position. Jones is not a good enough tackler to play safety. He played two years at each spot up here and he wasn't even considered a draft prospect until he moved to corner as a junior and senior at UConn.

McDougal would be a good pickup

A smart team would have called a TO immediately upon seeing Graham on Lewis. It was beyond obvious what was about to happen.
Beyond the beyond.

And yes, that moment deserved a TO rather than letting it play out.

Or better yet, an audible, switching say, B Jones for him in said sit.

We don't go that far though...

It's play the play and play it your best... fingers crossed.

Slot is his best position more than likely. The outside is for dawgs. Byron is a puppy football player
