I was watching that NFL network special and they were talking about the Dorsett trade.
Watching those highlights brought back a certain feeling.
I miss those teams and that time in Football. I'm referring to the Cowboys of 1977-1982.
I've had this feeling for a while and until recently couldn't put my finger on it.
The players are bigger and faster now, but the field's still the same size. It's as if the field has shrunk.
That's why the league has done so much with rule changes to promote the passing game and prohibit different types of contact.
It's had no choice. The shrinking of the field has forced the league to help offenses stretch it vertically.
It's just a different game. Seems to be more about the physical attributes of players on both sides of the ball and less about the skill.
As far as the Cowboys of 1977-1982. I miss the uniqueness of those teams. With the flex defense and the OL shift, they just stood out.
Now they didn't win as much as the 1990-1996 Cowboys, but they did have a certain flair.
Maybe we can get back to that a little with these Cowboys. Always felt Romo had a little Roger in him. Maybe Felix can give us the explosiveness of Dorsett.
