While a die-hard Boys fan, I live in the SF Bay Area and thus find myself in conversations with a lot of local fans of the Niners (and Raiders - ugh!). In any case, I have been consistently arguing that my pick this year for the NFC West is the Rams (I am taking a shocker position to say that the Seahawks will have a let down year and not make the playoffs...but that's more bluster than actual conviction).

So, being on the west coast, I am watching the Rams Seahawks game and I must say that my POV appears to be playing out pretty starkly. Of course, the Rams still may lose this game (Seattle won't just lay down and give up and they're making a push to close the gap as I write this), but the talent that the Rams have on D is absolutely freakish! I am counting about 7-8 former 1st rounders on their D (heck, even some of their back-ups are starters in a lot of situations)...their overall defensive speed and ability to bring the heat with four down lineman is reminiscent of dominant defenses of the past...the Rams are a team to be reckoned with, particularly if Nick Foles plays within himself and doesn't make a ton of mistakes...that D will carry them to some place special this year. And Tavon Austin is just sick!

They're a team I would be worried to face in the playoffs, regardless of location.

Having said that, if there's a team there's a team set up to content with the strength of their front seven, it's us!

Go Boys!

San Francisco looked awful good after week one last year to.

Rams are for real; That defense will carry them. If foles can hold up, they will be in the playoffs; And if we make it, its possible we play them.

the rams are benefitting from the RGME trade, high draft picks from really poor records, and a decent head coach....

Ive picked them to win the NFCW. I think their ready to break out this year.,

somewhat agree, except I don't think Niners looked so good as much as we looked bad after last year's opener...and then they were decimated by injuries and off field issues/distractions throughout the season along with some mind-numbing chokes for losses (like fumbling at goal line against these very same Rams at end of a game on a QB sneak)...the Niners looked good in the opener last year cuz we had a still hobbled Romo and a team not yet jelled...while the Rams got a Seahawks team with some limitations (no Cam) last week (again, as I mentioned, my "bold prediction" to friends is that Seattle won't even make the playoffs), there defense is special and will only get better...with defensive dominance, you can mainly focus on "mistake free football" and be in every game...and even win a SB (e.g., Ravens' first one with Dilfer)...if the Rams don't have any major losses to key defensive studs (i.e., Donald) and play to a style that limits mistakes offensively (such as giving of sacks/fumbles/returns for TDs like they did against Seattle - and STILL won!), there's no question in my mind they will a team "in the conversation" at the end of the season in terms of making a playoff run.

As I also stated, I think we're one of the few teams on the offensive side of the ball (assuming a healthy Dez) that will match up well against them. :)

The Rams are for real...what they really were last year.

An up and down team who flashes great play but ultimately isn't very good.

You'd think the fact that they beat Seattle last year would have clued some in that they shouldn't put too much into the fact that they beat Seattle this year.

It's a divisional game and the Rams just seem to play extremely well against the Hawks.
