Rams offensive failure

There is a hell of a lot of liability for a team if they don't list an injured player on the injury report, so why would they risk that? Further, what would the Rams and McVay have to gain by lying about an injury to Gurley? Why would McVay say after the game that he did a poor job of getting Gurley involved when he could have explained away his actions by saying Gurley was injured?
He gave the same non sensical explanation after the championship game. He even publicly apologized for horrible use of Gurley.

when you have a Qb who had trouble completing 3rd and 2s then a OC cant do much,Goff was confused the whole game.

Since when is using arguably the best RB in football not a consideration on 3rd and 2?

essentially what some are saying is, McVay in his infinite wisdom, thought it best not to play the one player on the team that was special on offense? lol...HILLARIOUS. If this gets proven true and Gurley was totally healthy...and IM SERIOUS, McVay needs fired. You play the horses that got you here,PERIOD.

And what you are saying is McVay lied about an injury even though he had nothing to gain by it, the lie could easily be disproven, would require the entire team and coaching staff and medical staff to support the lie, and would put his job at risk and subject the team to the possibility of enormous legal and financial liability had Gurley re-injured or worsened the injury by playing at all.

ok, what logic is there in NOT playing your stud RB nearly 100% of the game? Why play Anderson the amount they did? See...makes no sense at all. Im not knocking you so don't get me wrong, But I am questioning McVay bigly. lol

They didnt use him in the last game either,i got to figure he is still hurt because it makes no sense.

I agree completely that it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't play Gurley more. And the truth is, I had the same initial reaction you did - that Gurley must have been injured. But when I started looking for something to confirm that I found that all the evidence indicates he was not injured. I'm as baffled as you are.

As for Anderson, he's been huge for the Rams since he signed with the team, putting up big numbers in most of his games as a Rams. But they didn't use him either. Only 7 carries.

It seems McVay didn't have any confidence in the running game despite how successful both Gurley and Anderson had been running the ball for the Rams.

insanely stupid offensive game plan - NE isn't remotely that good on defense. NO would have been a better match-up, thanks refs.
Pats changed their defensive scheme to mirror what the Bears did to the Rams. It was a great call by The Chick

Rams shut down their own run game in a game that was 3-0 most of the night. STUPID!

Give Linehan one thing....even if Zeke was held to 50 yards, he would have run the ball 15-20 times and caught 5-7 short passes to extend the run game.

Gurley - 10 carries? 3.5 avg
Anderson - 7 carries? 3 yard avg

If Zeke ever get fewer than 20 carries in a close, game of field goals, someone should be fired.

What else was he going to say...lol My qb threw up on himself...lol

Hey at least McVay admitted it. When was the last time Garrett admitted something like that after getting dismantled?

- “Coach, you guys just got blown out by X team, what went wrong?”

- “I think we played a great game and executed in all phases...”

don't understand what's so hard to figure out. the up and coming offensive genius was outcoached by the great4est coach ever in the nfl. and in the final minutes of the game, the greatest qb ever in the nfl lit it up. belichik and brady. rather than diss them, we should feel lucky that we live at a time when we were able to see the best the sport ever had to offer.

This thought crossed my mind too. Would any Cowboy fan be okay with Zeke only getting 10 carries in this kind of game? Assuming they wouldn't, why would they believe it's okay Gurley only got 10 carries?

Same here, thinking maybe it was because of injury he wasn't being used more, but watching when he actually played, it doesn't seem the case. He looked fine against us, he didn't fare well against the Saints or Pats, but nothing about it looked like physical limitations. He still showed burst and cutback ability, the difference was that his OL was not creating the holes he was accustomed to. I'm thinking that McVay might have had more confidence in CJs ability to get hard yards after contact. I don't buy the injury excuse about Gurley, it's the Super Bowl, what are they saving him for? Gurley never looked gimpy or limited throughout the playoffs, I think he was even a full participant in practices since playing the Cowboys.

Define elite.

Can you name an area of the team of NE in which they are subpar?

Elite = All Pro. They only have one such player on defense (Gilmore). The rest of their defensive personnel is nothing special. Belichick makes them better than they are.

Shut down the run and make Goff beat you.

Exactly, Belichick was apparently not as impressed with Goff as a lot of people on this board. He knew Goff couldn't handle the pressure and dared him to beat them. Fact is, neither Brady or Goff were that impressive yesterday. . .
