man being a kicker is a wild ride. He was pretty decent here last year until that washington game and then the tampa playoff game. Guess once its it in your head you just lose it. Although the first time was with us dude was like money from 40+yds and a crap shoot anything closer, maybe he bounces back again.

How about the crowd that *****ed and moaned all through training camp about how stupid the Cowboys were with the current kicker. I'd say that was a majority of the people here.

It would’ve been stupid to replace him heading into the playoffs with a kicker we just signed off the streets. We brought in a kicker to compete with him, but he wasn’t any good. We were stuck with Maher who had been money all season until the very end when he started struggling with PAT’s. Once the season was over we released him immediately.

I’ll be honest I wanted to bring Mayer to camp just to see along with a couple other guys. Obviously we got the best option because the kid hasn’t missed a FG yet
