A veteran NFL scout told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the Rams were shopping Orlando Pace and Torry Holt for a third-round pick at last month's Senior Bowl.

St. Louis reportedly could've gotten a first-rounder for Holt  at last October's trade deadline from an NFL team "believed to be" the Titans. The Rams balked at the offer, as interim coach Jim Haslett was trying to win games and keep the full-time head job. Pace is coming off a better season and is more valuable property than Holt now. However, St. Louis can double its salary cap space from $14M to $28M by moving both players by June 1.

:muttley: ;)

The moral: Balking at offers is not good. A first rounder for him at this point in his career would have been highway robbery.

Haslett and the GM should have been fired for that debacle.

I really doubt that interim coach had much of a say there...

Holt can still play...

After he got paid and the greatest show on turf ceased to exist, I think its a case of just not caring.

Ala Moss in Oakland. Not saying he is anywhere close to Moss in Talent. He has good hands and runs routes well.

Id take him over the bozos saying they want Housh though.

Neither pace nor Holt would be worth much IMO at this stage of their careers. They are both shells of their former selves due to injuries.

I doubt it also but I am just going by the reports. I'm sure the GM had plenty to say.

Torry Holt would be a perfect fit for a team like Philly or Was unfortunately.

Doesn't Holt have some knee issues?

Not sure how we can say Holt's skills are diminishing. This past season was the first time he didn't get over 1K yards. If you look at the Rams situation, they had a revolving door on the OL and at QB. Jackson missed a couple games, which took emphasis off the running game. He averaged more than 12 ypc.

What was also lacking was someone, i.e., Isaac Bruce who could take attention away from him.

I know we keep saying we need to give our younger guys a chance, but for a 3rd I would do it. But then again, that's why I'm not a GM.

Hey, Jerry isn't either. Maybe it will happen.

this is what you do with players at the end of their career, you trade them

before their contract gets big and costs you

Yeah and Isaac Bruce wash washed up in 2007.

Bruce's success in SF proves that the OL injuries, loss of their primary running threat and battering of Bulger took the Rams down.

If T.O. is cut, Holt is a very good fit here-and should be available at a bargain price on draft day.

I tried to drum up support for our 2nd rounder last offseason for Torry Holt. I thought he was the best possibly-available replacement for Terry Glenn out there, and I thought his skills would complement TO's really well.

Are you serious?

As much as I hate using numbers alone...

He started out with 1300+ yards for 6 straight seasons. He has failed to top 1200 in the last 3. Last year, he didn't even have 800 yards.

His yards/catch averages the last 4 years have been 13.0, 12.8, 12.8, and 12.4. He has a grand total of 6 plays of 40+ yards over the past 4 seasons combined. T.O. had 6 this season alone.

Besides which, he can't beat a #1 corner one-on-one if his life depends on it.
