Lol, they’re not going to, nor ever were going too trade for Hopkins, nor should they. Not much you can do “dumber” than trading and paying for a 30 yo, rapidly declining WR. It requires “ as well it should” a little bit more than “I heared his name before” so let’s get him!
We got to finally show the fans we did something, hey stephen get on the phone lol

Positional value is not the same. WR is considered a more valuable position than CB and the situation is also not the same. Justin Tucker has less trade value than a starting QB despite Tucker being likely the best K in history in his prime.
Bad example to me, kicker isn't even in the same stratosphere as a QB

Jerry got a 5th for Coop (lol), so a 4th for DHop sounds about right.

A need they feel they have to make to say they've done something
I'm not all excited about Hopkins...I want them to make a move but would prefer a trade in the mold of the deal they did for Amari...young player on the verge of a new contract...hopefully for not a first.

The only thing the Ramsey deal will mess up is the CB contract market if Miami redoes his deal when they actually acquire him on the 15th.

I cannot remember the last time we gave up a 1-3 for any sort of significant addition to this team. 2023 will be no different, and to think otherwise is not living in reality as a Cowboys fan for the last 3 decades

Its a fine example because it demonstrates positional value. The best WRs are making 30m per year (well really 25m but lets pretend that Hills AAV is real for a second). The highest paid CBs are making 21m AAV. For context that would make him the 10th highest paid WR and that number will likely change again soon. The value for a CB vs a WR is simply not the same.

So the Rams got a 3rd round pick for 28 year old Ramsey, we're MONITORING the situation of one Deondre Hopkins, who is 30 years old. It is said that possibly a 2nd round pick is what they would take. Let's break this down. Ramsey is 28 considered all pro, Hopkins is 30, still has good talent. So if there was any interest from us, you're telling me we'd give up a 2nd?? The ceiling has been set, i'm starting my offer off with a 4th round pick! Please give your thoughts.

I think this trade messed up the entire league, in a good way for teams!
If we give up a 2nd for Hopkins when we could have given up a 3rd for Ramsey I will flip crap. But not crap, the real word.

That's probably true, but it still sets the price for me if i'm an owner, and what you're saying doesn't mean that teams have to accept a 3rd because their player isn't as good as Ramsey. As you said they were probably just trying to help him out and help their cap out as well
If it settings your price as an owner, then you are mostly likely going to miss out on the player you want

they're roughly the same honestly. the slant may lean slightly towards wr, but salaries are comparable and trades seem to line up. funny enough the last time they were both traded jalen fetched two firsts and hopkins a 2 and 4th.

The salaries are not comparable. The highest paid corner would be the 10th highest paid WR. Over the past 3 years WR contracts have exploded whereas CB contracts have barely moved.

Hopkins is fading and salary is too expensive.

As always we see the same situation year after year, rumors, people suggesting players to sign or bring via trade, but the cowboys owners have no brains for that, we have always seen that they transfer good players for not very high picks to other teams, and the cowboys just keep watching, like this case of Ramsey, a top 10 CB that was going to improve your defense a lot, they just say we are closely monitoring this player, but they fall asleep, the problem is not the money is the incompetence, first it was OBJ, if we are interested just like last year, what happened they didn't even go to see him in his private workout, and now comes out the news that OBJ is asking for at least 20M per year, crazy, then the rumor of DeAndre Hopkins, there is a news that the Browns asked for him, and that apparently is very high the price for him, supposedly for a high draft pick, simply this is going to stay the same as Brandin Cooks, "they tried to make a trade for. .." and again the rumor that the cowboys were interested in Bobby Wagner, but in the end nothing happened, just like last year so will be this year. free agency will start and it will be the same as it has been year after year, just watching how the other teams make the moves, and Dallas will wait to see what happens, and their "we are working on something big" would be to sign Donovan Wilson and some other player who was once a pro bowl selection but is trying to get back to his level,

When the Cowboys traded Cooper, did that set any kind of ceiling or mess up the entire league?

You seem to be overlooking by far the largest part of these deals.....the salary and cap hit from these guys.
Ramsey's is 24.2 mil all by himself, for example

We made a couple of moves to get under the cap but after the Steele deal, we will only be 10 mil under.
