Ooh that could get messy!!If we give up a 2nd for Hopkins when we could have given up a 3rd for Ramsey I will flip crap. But not crap, the real word.

yes!!!!!!!!Your talking about the two geniuses that traded Cooper away for a bag of chips.
With the Cardinals only saving $9m by trading him this year, and probably not going to spend that as they arent competing (and with a $32m in CAP credit), I think that they're seeing if they can drum up interest (with a low starting price of a 2nd pick)....a bit like us with Coop (without the obvious desperation we conducted matters). So the Rams got a 3rd round pick for 28 year old Ramsey, we're MONITORING the situation of one Deondre Hopkins, who is 30 years old. It is said that possibly a 2nd round pick is what they would take. Let's break this down. Ramsey is 28 considered all pro, Hopkins is 30, still has good talent. So if there was any interest from us, you're telling me we'd give up a 2nd?? The ceiling has been set, i'm starting my offer off with a 4th round pick! Please give your thoughts.
I think this trade messed up the entire league, in a good way for teams!
Nope. Always been this way. Very hard to trade players w/ bloated contracts. So the Rams got a 3rd round pick for 28 year old Ramsey, we're MONITORING the situation of one Deondre Hopkins, who is 30 years old. Of course. His salary did not match his production.Your talking about the two geniuses that traded Cooper away for a bag of chips.
And the Cards are going to have to dump a lot more just to pay minimite.
I think Hopkins value dropped when he talked about an extension. I think he’s more valuable under his current dealI was already at a 4th round pick.
Didn't need Ramsey deal to know that. Too much money and little production last two years and 30.
Yes, but for how long? Most fall off a table around 30. Remember Asomugha? Very very few CBs are useful after 31. The Champ Baileys of the league are rare. The player is only half the issue, the contract matters just as much. It's the same reason we saw Cooper go for a 5th last year. It's the same reason Bobby Wagner got released instead of traded. It's also the reason Brandin Cooks isn't a Cowboy right now. Had Houston been willing to pay a portion of his contract it sounded like Jerry was ready to pull the trigger.
Jalen Ramsey was worth 2 1st rounders plus more just a few years ago, but they also got to enjoy the benefits of a new contract and a low cap hit for two years. Now that he has cap hits of $17,18,19M over the next three seasons makes him significantly less attractive. Still a top CB in the league though.
true i misspoke. last year all of the new wr deals set a new benchmark, and i was admittedly thinking of the ramsey, denzel ward deals as related to wrs signed around the same time. there simply aren't enough high end cbs to consistently pushe the cieling, but diggs and the next wave of guys should keep stepThe salaries are not comparable. The highest paid corner would be the 10th highest paid WR. Over the past 3 years WR contracts have exploded whereas CB contracts have barely moved.
you think stephen and jerry were going to trade for ramsey and take on his salary, given the 3rd round picks cost a lot less.So the Rams got a 3rd round pick for 28 year old Ramsey, we're MONITORING the situation of one Deondre Hopkins, who is 30 years old. I wont disagree, but Ramsey was still playing at a high-level last year and his current deal only runs through his age 31 season. I'm not sure age is a huge factor in this one.Yes, but for how long? Most fall off a table around 30. Remember Asomugha? Very very few CBs are useful after 31. The Champ Baileys of the league are rare.
How much did Revis play after the age of 30? One full year at 31, followed by 5 games at 32, and that was it. Never played again.
How in the world do people constantly state how RBs have short careers and not realize that CBs also do?
I think you have to take contracts into account as well. The Rams wanted cap space and the Dolphins guaranteed the next two years for Ramsey. It is, but not yet, I agree. I'd love to have him thru age 31, but not at a bloated salary.I wont disagree, but Ramsey was still playing at a high-level last year and his current deal only runs through his age 31 season. I'm not sure age is a huge factor in this one.
I don't see how a trade for a corner changes the market for a WR. Different positions, different markets that really don't have much to do with each other. Now I agree I wouldn't give a 2nd but it has nothing to do with the Ramsey trade. So the Rams got a 3rd round pick for 28 year old Ramsey, we're MONITORING the situation of one Deondre Hopkins, who is 30 years old. Jerry's yacht is based in the Gulf of Mexico I believe. He can cruise down to the Keys or head to Jamaica. Life is goooooooood.Probably depends on the cell service where ever the yaht is right now. My guess is weak signal for the next couple weeks.
What if they are cousins??Bad example to me, kicker isn't even in the same stratosphere as a QB
Doubtful! The ceiling has not been set. LA's front office wanted to get Ramsey to his preferred destination and probably turned down better packages to do so.
