The thing is that he could have just said How ya' doin' cowboys fan thats great got a good team go away. But he didn't he took the time to make it known that he thinks we are gonna kick some serious ***!
Ya know, I think thats the subconscious reason why I even posted about meeting the guy. Like I said in the original post, I didn't need Mike Holmgren to tell me how good Dallas looks, etc............
But the fact the this guy didn't treat us like dirt, but took a little time for the little guys out there to get a kick out of meeting someone of his stature in the NFL. In fact, I didn't even approach him. I saw him coming around the corner and turned to two of my employees simply to point Holmgren out to them...............next think I know he's walking toward us and waving hello!
It's not uncommon, here in Hawaii, at the resorts (I'm a painting contractor and always have work at some resort or other) to spot celebs. Especially after the Pro Bowl for the next few weeks. But I NEVER bother famous folk, for two reasons. No. 1, they're on vacation and should be left alone for once to enjoy their time and family. No. 2, I don't want to embarrass myself by approaching some one I don't even know, call them by their first name like the know ME, and start talking to them like you're some kind of expert in THEIR FIELD. I've seen it a thousand times, and it ain't pretty to watch. You could see the celeb just squirming and his wife staring a hole through the perpetrators skull, because you're taking even MORE time of the guys life than they already give. So I just NEVER bother famous folk on vacation.
Plus, here in Hawaii, where tourism is the goose that laid the golden egg, we're all kinda' trained that way. It's a little different than perhaps spotting Tony Romo at a mall in Peoria.
So we didn't go running up to him like teenage girls chasing the Beatles. He actually saw that some folks noticed HIM, and he took 10 minutes out of his life to brighten up and otherwise routine day...................and THAT alone was pretty cool.
I could tell you a dozen other stories about jocks in Hawaii I've met.........
