Randle or Dunbar as the backup?

Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that Randle was only a 5th round draft pick. That didn't make him the #2 running back.

So far it looks like it'll be Dunbar. The biggest question is really who is the 3rd running back and do we keep 4.

Dunbar I think is the most dynamic of the two, much like Felix, where as Tanner is more like Choice.

I want whomever who can get yards, and pass protect.

I think right now Dunbar will get some snaps as a change of pace back, but if Murray get hurts and misses games, I think Randle/tanner takes that spot. Dunbar stays as the change of pace guy.

Agreed.

I think the whole Randle vs. Dunbar debate is basically the same as Williams vs. Harris. They are going to have different roles, so they arent necessarily competing against each other for time.

I could see Dunbar and Murray on the field at times. Dunbar can line up as receiver too. Very versatile.

It looks as though Dunbar has a leg up on his competition (Randle) at this point. Barring a last-minure change in that status, he should more than likely enter the season as our #2 guy at RB.

I'd like to see Dunbar get more snaps, but its good to know we have Randle as well if Murray goes down again this year.

Also can use Randle in short yardage situations.

Looks like we are deeper at RB than we have been in a long time. That will pay off late in the year when they have fresher legs.

I'd like to see all of the backups have nothing but mop up time and spell Murray every once in a while. That would mean Murray would be good and healthy.

Nah, i don't think that's the way to go. I'd rather see them rotate the guys in if they have 3 good backs.

Keeps everyone fresher for the stretch run and keeps Murray healthier.

I agree that Randle's probably the top candidate as as injury replacement for Murray. Other than that, I think he's where he belongs as the fourth option right now. The other three guys have all outplayed him to-date. I really like our backs, though, as a unit. A good mix, with some good personalities, and a potential game-breaker in Murray.

The only negative about Randle is, he doesn't have Murray or Dunbar's game changing speed.

Yep, that running back by committee was how we won all those Super Bowls. Tell #22 that..
