For me... I thought Corey White was the best player on the field last night.. The guy was constantly making plays.

I see Weeden taking a lot of heat today.. Yes, he missed a snap but other then that the guy was sharp.

T. Will looked excellent.

DT.. I really liked what I saw from 92, 58, 99 and of course Tyrone Crawford. It looks like D line is going to be a strength this year for sure.

Gregory is super quick off the ball.

Gus Johnson looked solid to me. He's getting some hate today but I don't get it. The Chargers loaded up to stop the run and he was always moving forward and got what was there. I thought he did well.

Vaughan also looked solid and I think as he develops he could be one of these statue QB types that can sling it but he will need a clean pocket to have success.

Damien Wilson looks like we found another quality big 10 linebacker.

Seastrunk is the most patient runner I've ever seen.. To the point that it hurts his game. You can see the skill there but he just will not hit the hole.

Lucky Whitehead is a blazer. I can't remember the last time I've seen speed like that on this team. But like any rookie, hes going to be hard to trust with the ball in his hands.

I fell asleep in the 4th quarter so I have no comments on Showers yet.

I was disappointed with most of the young WRs. Harwell is the only one that showed something. Greenberry can't catch and Farmer can't get separation. I don't know where Jenkins and Goodley were on the field.

I thought White and Jones played well in the secondary.

I liked Wilson at LB. Seemed quick and active. If he can develop that really gives us a nice backup LB given we have some guys in Lee and McClain you aren't sure can stay on the field.

Johnson looked OK to me but not great. Granted, it's hard to really tell when the OL was a mish mash of non-starters and guys playing a new position (like Martin starting at OT).

Weeden looked.......... like a backup. So I won't worry too much about him.

Whitehead can run but he's got to do a better job of holding onto the ball.

Williams looked very good with some nice catches.

I agree on Corey White. He played well. In good position, aggressive, and confident. He contested everything.

And the refs are in preseason mode too! That review was not a catch!

Questions?

How good is Gregory?

Is Gus our "dirty yards" back?

Seastrunk and his patience, behind this line... Should/could be an asset, no?

Whitehead? PR/KR?

Thanks

I thought White played well, but I still have some concerns. He and Jones struggled a bit with some hitch routes and there was a play where White got lost and allowed an easy completion. Overall I was happy with this play. I know they couldn't wait to get him out of New Orleans, but I think he's much better suited in a zone scheme.

I really thought Vaughan played very well. I was more impressed with him than when I watched Jimmy Garroppollo (sp?). The only thing Jimmy G. had over Vaughan was a stronger arm. But, Vaughan did those little things that good starting QB's do like having good pocket presence and being able to throw accurately when off balance. Weeden is capable if the protection is there because he has a major league arm. However, he couldn't make those throws that Vaughan had to make off balance because the protection was bad. Vaughan also uses his height very well to find receivers and threw a really nice pass to Clutts on a flare pass for a first down. It's honestly a pass that many good starting QB's can't make (i.e. Romo, Brees, Wilson, etc) because they don't have the height and throwing motion for it. Again, doesn't seem like much, but it really is. At this point, Vaughan reminds me a bit of Romo at this stage. He needs to continued to develop his lower body to help drive passes more and I have questions about him on deeper pass patterns, but he looks good out there and is a pretty clever QB.

I thought Gus Johnson looked good. Cuts pretty well, decent speed and ran hard. Don't really know what his pass pro is like.

I really liked what I saw out of Whitehead. I would be interested to see his combine numbers. He looks like he is ultra-fast coming out of the gate with solid top speed. When you can go from 0-60 in such a quick time, I think it can make for a very dynamic returner. The fumble didn't bother me too much because he got turned around, was falling on his back and a defender put his helmet on the ball. It wasn't like he was standing straight up and it was easily stripped.

You didn't miss much, except that Showers reminds folks of Russell Wilson; he he has some upside, and should be kept.

His competition looked unathletic, I thought. Specifically, both Weeden and Vaughn had sluggish footwork, and poor mechanics when throwing on the move (resulting in weak throws). Would need solid protection.

There was a lack of OL chemistry without Smith and Free; Weems and Wetzel made the entire unit look sub-par at times, and the RB's therefore had to work for their yardage and didn't show many jukes or broken tackles.

Just 1st pre-season -- wasn't expecting much, but I'm glad to see Cory White's skillset.

New Orleans..

Evidently he didn't play well there.. Maybe it was Rob Ryans scheme.. Who knows.

So far in Dallas he has looked good in camp according to reports and he looked really good in that preseason game.

RR's scheme? Most likely. :D

How good is Gregory? He's fast off the line. He is so fast, he makes fast guys look not fast.

Is Gus our "dirty yards" back? Maybe. Needs to run behind the starting o-line and in a game that has a game plan.

Seastrunk and his patience, behind this line... Should/could be an asset, no? Don't like his hesitation; it forces the linemen to hold their blocks longer.

Whitehead? PR/KR? Potential but needs to protect the roc.

Weedon was ok. He has the arm to be a QB, I just don't think he can read a defensCoreye and move through his progressions. It's all decision making. But he was fine considering the pressure.

Vaughan had some nice passes - hitting those in routes is key, and the one on 3rd and 17 was placed perfectly over the zone linebacker. I really liked him under duress.

Corey White can play. We quietly have created a pretty good secondary that can run very well.

Whitehead will deservedly get flack for the fumble but so long as he plays well throughout the preseason I think he sticks.

Nice to see Street make some plays, but I don't want to rely on him too much.

I'm not going to comment on the tackle position until the preseason progresses some more. There was also a play where Martin got blown up but nobody is wringing their hands around that. R-E-L-A-X.

Funny how players seem to look better once they're not in his scheme, White always had the ability but that defense was garbage in NO. I can't really judge anything since 90% of the starters were on the sidelines. To all the people that said you can just go get a receiver when it was about Dez's contract, how do you feel about that statement now?:lmao:

Gregory looks like a stud.. He really reminds me of a young D.Ware.. I know that's the easy comparison but you see it with that explosive ability.

I don't know if he'll ever be able to set the edge against the run like Ware but I think he will be the same type of player D.Ware was rushing the passer. He just needs to get on them weights a little so once he gets up field he can turn the edge.

Is Gus our dirty yards back? I don't know honestly.. To me he looks like a guy that needs volume to really show his productivity. More of a Marshawn Lynch type and less like MB3 that was just a instant shot of Adrenaline.

Seastrunk.. Don't like.. He is the definition of a toe dipper. He looks like he has so much potential but the guy just won't jump in the water.

Whitehead not only looked fast but he looked like he can read his blocks as well. He's explosive man. He just showed that he can't be trusted not to fumble.

I get scared of the thought of being in GB in January or NYG with swirling winds and this guy muffing a punt or fumbling. Basically I don't trust him. If he can secure the football though watch out.

I was pleasantly surprised by C. White, too.

What I want to know, and I haven't even seen it mentioned was, where was my boy NICK HAYDEN? I don't see anything about injuries or anything. Did Marinelli finally get those naked photos back?

I have to say I was disappointed in the Cowboys run defense. They were getting moved on the line through out the evening not to mention some poor tackling. Guys have some work to do.

Seastruck uses his speed to not take a hit. He doesn't use it to gain yards. To me he looked scared and really really bad. Always either running sideways when being taken down, or running towards our own goal lie. I doubt he had a single positive yard after any contact all night. Experiment over.
