That's not the question...can he play football? Personality can be dealt with...Irving is an egotistical moron. We don't need him.

interesting. if the legalities could be overcome, I can see the possibility that irving would soften his prior stance.Randy Gregory, David Irving could return to the Dallas Cowboys in 2019

The Dallas Cowboys defense could have the services of both Randy Gregory and David Irving this upcoming season. Here’s how …
In late February, news broke that Dallas Cowboys‘ defensive end Randy Gregory had been suspended again for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Before the Cowboys’ fanbase could get over the shock of Gregory, it was announced that defensive tackle David Irving was also suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse program just two days later...
In an interview that appeared on the Dallas Cowboys Official YouTube Page, Jones was asked about Robert Quinn and what the veteran defensive end brings to the field following the offseason trade that brought him to Dallas. The Cowboys executive went on to talk about the status of both Gregory and Irving...
“Well, I think obviously defensive line with our challenges we’ve had with Randy. Certainly, I think Randy’s done, you know is back on it and really doing a great job of getting himself in a position where hopefully he can get back at some point and help us out. But with that unknown being there, and of course having the same situation with David Irving … we really felt like we needed to shore that up.”...
For the rest of the puzzle, I will lean on Dan Graziano, an ESPN Staff Writer. In May, Graziano wrote an article titled NFL, NFLPA announcement to mental health initiative. Slater’s reports from her internal interviews with Jason Garrett and Stephen Jones are more evidence. I believe both are laying the groundwork for a potential new marijuana policy.
The Cowboys front office has a long history of looking at all factors carefully before parting ways with player assets. One of the critical problems that fans don’t consider enough is mental health in players.
For example, during the early nineties when Cowboy fans where celebrating defensive end Charles Haley‘s success on the field, owner and general manager Jerry Jones was dealing with a bi-polar player off-the-field. In my belief, unless people experience mental issues themselves or are close to someone who does, it is almost impossible to understand...
I'll be happier than a Walgreens looter in south Philly if we only get Gregory back.

...oh, just send him to a course of Vacation Bible School...huh?
So, offer him a year's supply of killer weed and a new contract...Even if Irving somehow made it back to the NFL, served his suspension etc. he is an Unrestricted Free Agent, not under contract with the Cowboys.
As a fan I can understand why we don't want Randy or Irving on the field, but Jeery has always been a pioneer. He'll exhaust every effort to help players he likes.Randy Gregory, David Irving could return to the Dallas Cowboys in 2019

Great post Sir!As much of a critic that I am when it comes the way Jerry Jones handles the football operations generally attributed to his position as GM, he has.some of the most endearing qualities that you can find in a man.
Jerry can be very.loyal.and extremely compassionate. I also believe he earns the same loyalty from others. This is Jerry at his best. This is the area where he should have involved himself.and not the performance part. Leave that to a true GM.
Jerry's ability to look at all perspectives is what created his contributed to the NFL's continuous success. Looking at mental health seems fair and just when you consider the physical damage it might do to a human brain.
If it is found that their behaviour was the result of a mental illness then that should be taken into consideration. We just need to make sure the process involves more doctors than lawyers.
I wish both Gregory and Irvin the best and hope they find the help.and circumstances they need,
Call me when they repeal the 10th amendment or add any enumerated powers that actually grant the federal government any authority in this regard. This has nothing to do with mental illness. Doesn't matter if they are smoking weed or crack or snorting coke and claiming they do it because of "mental illness". I don't doubt Randy is depressed; who isn't? But even if the NFL wanted to be more lenient with their drug policy, they don't supercede the federal gov.
Call me when they repeal the 10th amendment or add any enumerated powers that actually grant the federal government any authority in this regard.
And I could give a rats *** what he does. Irving is dead to me. Go panhandle or play for another team for all I care.LOL.
Irving.
No chance.
