Thank God. We desperately need his 6 career tackles and 0 sacks to help our defense..
FRISCO, Texas -- At one point Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys thought Randy Gregory would be able to practice on Wednesday. By the close of business Tuesday, the NFL informed the team the suspended defensive end would not be allowed to practice.
“We’ve had different information on that over the last couple of days, over the last couple of weeks,” coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday. “Again we’re just focused on our guys. He’s not going to practice today.”
Currently, Gregory is eligible to return to the active roster on Dec. 19 as he finishes a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He missed the first four games of the season for failing a number of tests in 2015.
The Cowboys had hopes he would be allowed a two-week practice exemption before the suspension ended, which would have him in better game-shape to potentially play Dec. 26 against the Detroit Lions.
Garrett would not get into whether the NFL needs to alter the open-ended nature of how it penalizes players. There have been reports Gregory is facing another suspension, which could lead to a one-year ban, after the current penalty ends. However, sources said the Cowboys have not received any word from the league.
Garrett said Gregory is doing well as he takes part in meetings and works out with the strength and conditioning coaches. He said Gregory has added some bulk to his frame.

NFL is a joke, seriously get your act together they have to be the most confusing sports league in the World. Goodell time to take a hike.
well since i don't follow other teams or their suspensions, i could never tell you if this was picking on the cowboys, or we only see it with the cowboys. Why do these oddities always seem to happen with the Cowboys? If this was for the Pats or the Giants Goodell would be at the practice facility welcoming back Gregory with a workout session and a bong rip.
Seriously.
Given how bad they handle things, you would this it was an office staffed with exactly one person - Goodell, with typewriters, Dewey decimal cards, and filing cabinets instead of what is supposed to be a billion dollar operation.
I thought that the point of these substance abuse suspensions was to not only punish violators, but to also assist them in learning from their mistakes and helping them to recover and quit whatever drug they were caught using.
Instead, the league can't even be bothered to stay in communication with the players or the teams.
Yet another awful job from the league and Goodell.
Actually he won't get credit for this year.......DAL will have him for 3 more years

IDK about that .......NE had their star QB suspended for 4 games and lost their #1 draft pick this year and 4th next......the NYG have had 5 drug suspensions in the last 3 years including their FB Whitlock who got 10 gamesWhy do these oddities always seem to happen with the Cowboys? I think the NFL has some discretion in when they allow suspended players to practice but it is not policy......the NFL allowed Josh Brent to start practicing after Week 9 of his 10 week suspension in 2014....but Brady was forced to miss the entire 4 weeks of his without practicing or even being at the facility or talking to teammatesFRISCO, Texas -- At one point Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys thought Randy Gregory would be able to practice on Wednesday. Drug suspensions are self-inflicted wounds and the policy is really pretty easy to side-step....RGregory is too blame for his problems....he came to the Combine high
You are mixing up reports........the NFL never told them he could practice, DAL just assumed he could from what I readAgree he is responsible for his problems but that doesn't mean the NFL should be as sloppy how they handle this.
They tell Dallas one minute he can practice and at the last minute they tell us he can't.
Regardless he should be back for week 16 because even if they suspend him he has the right to appeal and it will take the NFL forever to go through the appeal process.. If the appeal process takes a day or 2 then it is a conspiracy against Dallas.
You can't accelerate Gregory's appeal process for Weed but let a guy like Lane Johnson play over a month of the season for Steroids.

This.
From AdamJT13: He did have the highest pressure rate on the team last year.

Lane Johnson wasn't afforded any special considerations.......all players are allowed to play while they appeal....same with Gregory.....when his 10 game suspension is up Week 15 he will be allowed to practice and play even though he has another suspension being appealed
Tom Brady was allowed to play all of 2015 while his appeals went thru federal court
Sometimes the news of the suspensions is leaked early like the Johnson case but not by the NFL....they will not release the names of those suspended until they are certain and the appeals have been heard
