gregory was one of the more overrated players in this draft before the test failure.

he is a tremendous athlete but he is very raw and pretty far underweight for a guy 6'6".

he should go around 20 now which is where he probably should go.

insane upside but his production at nebraska was ho hum.
only 7 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss last year and lot of teams had success running right at him.
easy guy to cut block.

I can't believe how many people in this thread would still take this guy. Pot might be more socially acceptable now.....but it's still a no-no in the NFL.

If the Josh Gordon situation doesn't scare you.....then yah...go ahead and blow a #1 pick on a pothead:thumbdown:

I agree. I was joking about him being there at 27. He's either incredibly stupid or really addicted. He'd be completely off my draft board.

I'm torn on this one.

On one hand I'm absolutely with you on this but...man I just don't know. He's a serious talent and it's possible in the right environment he can change his ways.

I mean Warren Sapp had a weed issue too going into the draft and yet he didn't get into a bunch of trouble in the league and went onto a Hall of Fame career.

I might roll the dice on the kid in the draft but I could see myself going exactly the way you're saying here and taking him off my board all together.

This is what my problem is with the decision.

I absolutely wouldn't touch Gordon in a trade, as people have suggested the last couple of years, because I know he's going to continue to screw up cause he has in fact continued to screw up in his career.

In Gregory's case I'd have that doubt in him but part of me would also like to believe that maybe he could learn from his mistakes and realize he's got to straighten up and would.

CBS Sports' Rob Rang notes that, according to his combine feedback on Nebraska edge player Randy Gregory, some teams think he "would be a scary first round pick."
"Among feedback I received on Gregory from teams was that he came off as "having an excuse for everything" and "would be a scary 1st rd pick," Rang tweeted. While we have to keep in mind that this is draft season, Gregory's recent failed drugtest doesn't help his draft stock. Rang added in another tweet that, "the issue with Gregory isn't a single failed test for marijuana. Some teams will brush that off. Ive been told there are "several" red flags." With Gregory's elite potential to terrorizequarterbacks off the edge, it will be extremely tough for edge rusher-needy teams to pass on him, if he starts to fall. Mar 26 - 3:26 PM

Maybe he slips to Arz. They take him, we get Gurley.

Im Pro Marijuana but I still say don't draft this guy.

As a prospect yes I would take him but the guy is dumb if he failed this test.

Just seems like someone you can't depend on.

I don't want anymore Morris Claiborne types on this team.

Ill take the kid from UCLA OO over Gregory.

Here's an approach- Always Draft the Weed Guy. No better way to exploit market inefficiencies than drafting elite talent cheap. Mathieu? Houston? Yes please. Always Draft the Weed Guy.

For someone to keep using KNOWING they were going to test him- that is either arrogance or stupidity and probably both. NOT someone you can depend on.

I hope he still goes before 27. We need him to fill a draft slot to allow someone else to have one shot better chance to fall to us.

I'd love to see a list of guys who have failed the combine drug test. I tried google'ing it but you get mostly 3 pages of Randy Gregory headlines. But I'd imagine you could probably build a pro bowl team out of guys who have. I know people love to point to Josh Gordon because it's recent, but in reality its far from a death sentence for a players career.

With all that said, I don't like Gregory just because he's a twig. No way do I think he could play with his hand on the ground in the NFL.

No thank you. I'd lay odds he gets his first suspension in his first 2 years.

Doesn't help us at all if he's not on the field and getting popped before a scheduled drug test is sheer stupidity.

He may slide a bit more than he would have otherwise but some fellas in one of the war rooms will be a bit more liberal than some of the ones who see fit to bypass him. If he slides to Dallas I wouldn't be shocked if we were the ones to be liberal enough to take him anyway. (Or perhaps not.)

I just don't see the hype for him. He doesn't look all that great on tape imo. Bust
