Despite ll of the speculation, all of the attention and all of the past mistakes, Randy Gregory is just putting in work for the Dallas Cowboys in training camp. This kid has a chip on his shoulder the size of the Grand Canyon, and it’s showing. The young rookie, who fell out of the first round almost to the end of the second round of the 2015 NFLDraft, is looking great in camp so far. Rod Marinelli is obviously happy, and Gregory is growing daily. He’s already put on weight and is learning at a rapid pace. If his training camp keeps up like this, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with this season. This shouldn’t surprise anyone who has followed his career up until now, as he had all the tools to be a great player in the NFL.

Was watching him on the two TC specials on ESPN and NFLN and the dude has a very quick first step, but man he looks small compared to his peers on the team.

You gotta post a hook, like maybe two juicy sentences or a paragraph to get some clicks...

I watched him up close quite a bit. He is fast off the ball. Once he learns better techniques and nuances, he should turn out to be an effective rusher. Hardy was working with him on the side often....I love that!

Anyone else see a Samuel Jackson in him?

You're a solid writer for sure...one thing I think you need to do is source claims or provide evidence/quotes/clips...something for sentences like "learning at a rapid place" or "Rod Marinelli is obviously happy."

Without doing that, it doesn't have a lot of meat.

He is not small. Gregory is going to surprise people with how he can hold the edge. His longs arm allow him to separate and his length and speed make it very hard to beat him to the edge. He did VERY well against the run in college, even though all we hear about is his pass rushing ability.

I am not worried about his size at all. At all.

Start every thread with the title Dez Bryant or Tony Romo, no matter what the article is about. For example:

Tony Romo is so fat, Gregory keeps sacking him.

or

If the Dez Bryant catch counts, Randy would have put ARod out of the game.

Being drafted by the Cowboys is something a lot of players want, and Jerry Jones couldn’t pass up on the talent of Gregory at pick No. 60. This is going to pay dividends for the Cowboys over the course of the 2015 season.
It's going to pay dividends for the Cowboys well beyond the 2015 season.

Fire your editor.

If the second word in an article is misspelled, not many people are going to bother reading the rest.

Also, avoid worn out clichés ("chip on his shoulder the size of the Grand Canyon"). Don't call players "kids", it makes a writer sound arrogant. When you make a claim, back it up with evidence ("Rod Marinelli is obviously happy", "Gregory is growing daily"), otherwise that's just one guy's opinion, and a guy who isn't even at camp at that. Finally, when your title is about Gregory impressing at camp, I actually expect to read stuff about Gregory impressing at camp, and not an endless rehash of things I already know about Gregory's draft story or college stats.

Yeah the editor definitely missed that. Then again, i should have spelled it properly in the first place. I appreciate the critique man thanks

Just some pointers. Sorry if it comes off as harsh, but I assume you want real feedback.

Reading this article, I was left feeling that it was written after the draft or after rookie mini camp. The headline, "Randy Gregory impresses in Dallas Cowboys training camp", was completely unsupported. You gave college stats, which was nice, however I assumed you would have included how he was actually doing in camp. His struggles versus Tyron Smith, but his success versus some other linemen. Also, no quotes from anyone on staff or even Charles Haley on his progress. I'd definitely say there was a lot out there that you could have included in your article, that was left out.

I remember reading something about what Gregory said...something about when Haley came onto the field and slapped him upside his helmet. Gregory said something about it was not just a slap, it was a slap! He said that Haley did that to make sure that Gregory always keeps his head up, not dog faced down!
