Randy Gregory, why so hush?

I think most of us are just tired of this issue hanging in some purgatory balance. Either play or don't. It's not all on him at this point. The league has to be willing to play too.

I am wondering why he didnt just apply for reinstatement in NOV17 when he was eligible so that if he decided he wants to play again he would have it all taken care of! The other statement that sounds funny is when its reported that he is getting ready to apply for reinstatement. To me its either you apply or you dont!

Because he decided not to apply at that time.
If he applied, and was reinstated, then in mid December the team would have had to make a decision to add him to the team or release him. He and his agent did not want to disrupt the season. So they decided best to wait until March.

New year, new start. And there is nothing wrong with that at all. Actually it was for the better for all involved.

I don’t think it’s so hush as it’s that no one really gives a bleep about him enough to be a big story.

And why should they? He had 1 sack and 8 hurries in 14 games ........ he is the epitome of a Jag

don't understand the secrecy of his whole situation, you'd think he's in the witness protection program, Always very hush on all fronts. Any other player you hear who's applying for reinstatement, there seems to be transparency. All things Randy Gregory have gone almost radio silence the past 18 months.

Only thing I can think of is possibly he has a strong case for medical need for the pot and the NFL's hard stance towards him could have legal implications??
There are privacy issues involved.

His treatment for addiction is not public forum.

Most people struggle with uncertainty. I see it everywhere all the time and am fine with it.

Gregory, who will break your haht EVERY TIME!
Is a loser.
WHY? WHY, WHY, WHY!!!!!
DONT EXPEND ANY TIME ON THIS LOSER!!!!!
There are youngsters in the draft who are smarter, more athletic and more responsible!!!
Give it up, Jack!!!!!
I was also angry when suspension after suspension were occurring. I love my team and there is not a day goes by, that I don’t look up, to see what is happening in big D; however, there is more to his story. This is a young man that has probably a mental disorder that never was treated. He is not a spoiled rotten athlete nor is he a criminal. I’m now pulling for him to make changes in his life and to resume his profession.

Right..

Professional doctors, councilors and judges all rolled into one.

How convenient for them.

Hush your mouth. We’re so fortunate to have one guy on this board that thinks of himself as a surgeon, legal specialist and life guru!

[Even worse are the people that actually listen to him]

It’s actually nothing more than a blip on the radar for anyone that isn’t a Cowboy fan. We have to remember it is noticeable to us because it affects a team we put a lot of time and energy into and pay close attention to. My bet is most NFL fans either don’t know who Randy Gregory is, or only have vague knowledge of him.
Hey man, don’t come around here making sense.. Lol. But your right.

No point in talking about a player who’s suspended and the team isn’t counting on. He’s spent the past three years spending more time battling a drug addiction than playing football. If he’s reinstated he’ll be one failed drug test away from being suspended indefinitely and probably gone for good. You can’t count on a player like that. He’s pretty much ruined his NFL career.

The offseason workout program starts April 16. Missing that is going to put Gregory further behind. Voluntary OTAs start May 22 and Gregory missing that puts him even further behind. Three OTA sessions are scheduled between May 22 and June 6. Mandatory mini camp is June 12-14. If Gregory misses all of that he’ll have virtually no chance to complete 2018.

If he’s reinstated you can’t just bring him to training camp after missing the entire offseason program including OTAs, mini camp as well as all the football he’s missed the past 3 years and expect him to perform at a level necessary to make the team. I know Jerry doesn’t want to give up on Gregory but I’ll be surprised if he plays another snap for the Cowboys.

He has to be "away from the team".
They can only say so much and he is obviously staying somewhat lowkey in an effort to get reinstated.
Nothing for him to be gained by constantly engaging the media.

Broaddus talked a little on Randy Gregory on Cowboys Break. Mentioned earlier in the season when people asked about him he was telling them no. But it was Randy's camp that contacted him and told him au contrere, hold on, this is what we're doing; how they're trying to do this.

At this point if it's something bad I'd rather not hear about it. I've had enough of that last year with the injuries, endless suspensions and media circus foolery.

I'd rather the FO deal with Gregory behind closed doors.

Considering the need for quality pass rushers, why would anybody be against Randy returning? Sure, I have my doubts about him, but he is young and these couple of years could have motivated him to change his life. He may have gained more bulk, which he needed, and he may have his head in a better place. It doesn't hurt to find out.

I'm not against him returning. Just can't depend on him. Hope he proves me wrong.

Randy may be subject to further discipline. They are trying to understand what they can do and what roger may do. Im sure his camp is talking to the league and we will know something after the draft. Hope it works out but dont count on him at all.
