Randy Gregory

Who has the highlight clips from his plays the other night?

If Randy Gregory is fantastic, it means that there is less pressure to re-sign Hardy next season. Underrated bonus.

Can we not be excited about the entire D-Line?

Also, Hardy deliberately works on his weaknesses in practice/preseason games. We haven't even seen the real Kraken yet.

I'm very hopeful however want to see it in regular season games. Also would like to see how he handles the run game where he's consistently tying up the swing block or the tackle to string out sweeps and off tackle plays. That is where Ware was a double threat. I don't expect him to be on every tackle but don't let the blocker take you out of the play on a run.

Gregory does a good job of getting skinny by bending and twisting his body to slide past blocks rather then trying to clear his whole body. What you have to be encouraged by is how he already talks about watching film and seems to be out to convince people he is not a dumb player just relying on athletic ability.

I have been working on it since the draft... but I'm 82% sure that I can like both Hardy and Gregory and have high hopes for both.

So far, the hopes that I have in my brain haven't reacted with each other and exploded.

Here is hoping that they don't.

How dare you not pick a side!

How are you going to be able to have an opinion on which one should get the most playing time when Hardy returns? Jump to some conclusions, man! Otherwise, I'm not sure you are fit to be a Cowboys fan.

I hope your right because I haven't seen squat yet!!

We need to resign Hardy regardless. He has indicated that he wants to remain a Cowboy and I don't think the Cowboys will be under an intense amount of pressure in dealing with him.

I'd rather have all the passrushers than not, but it sure makes my negotiations better if I have a few young dominants in Gregory, Crawford and Lawrence.

Personally, if Hardy plays like I think he is going to this season, there is no way I let him walk. Just entering his prime and is as good in the locker room and in practice as he is during the games.

You pay guys like that, period IMO.

If Gregory is great then even better, play Randy at WDE and Hardy at DT/SDE.

At least that's how I view it.

Actually, I think the development of Gregory and Lawrence will determine if we make a play to keep Hardy. As much as we may like him this year, Hardy will be very expensive to bring back. If there's an indication that both of the young guys can be stalwarts at the end spots, I think Dallas will spend its resources elsewhere.

Our ends in 2016 could end up being Gregory, Lawrence, Russell and Gardner, with both Hardy and Mincey leaving in free agency. I don't mind that if we're able to develop those four guys ... that's a boon on defense similar to what we've been able to accomplish on the offensive line. Defensively, I think our resources will go toward resigning Crawford if he improves his game to become a game-changing 3-tech. That would also leave us weaker only at the 1-tech spot, but perhaps one of the young guys also will come on there.

However, that's a lot of ifs for now, with some of them appearing more likely than others.

Yeah, I understand... and you could be correct. However, pass rusher is one of the few spots that the team doesn't mind spending big at. I think his value to the team will be such that they will want to keep him... particularly, if you throw in the fact that Hardy is so effective from WDE, SDE or DT. His versatility will not only endear him to Marinelli, who really values that highly, but it shouldn't make him a redundant player even if Gregory and Lawrence to turn out to be really good players.

Lawrence, Gregory, Hardy, and Crawford are going to be all on the field together a lot this year.

In the end, we will all just have to wait and see what happens. We aren't even sure yet that Hardy will be as good as I think he will be.

It was already reported that he works exclusively on his weaknesses in practice and in preseason games to get better.

I think we'll probably want to sign him long term after this year, if not in the middle of the season. He's interchangeable at DE and DT.

Hardy is a top 3 4-3 DE. For me to not want him re-signed he would have to have another incident(which seems unlikely to me) or Gregory AND Lawrence have to blow my socks off(like literally incinerated as they leave my body blown off). You don't let young top talent walk.

Here's a bold prediction:

I truly think that Randy Gregory will have a statistically better career than Greg Hardy.

I don't know why someone wouldn't want to keep Hardy if he performs. We got a 2-4 year window to win superbowls, we got cap room, we have an elite O line and a potentially elite D line. That is a great formula for success late in the year. Keep as many great rush men as you can. We don't have to pay gregory or lawrence for another couple of years.

We don't NEED to sign him regardless. Hardy became a luxury when Gregory fell into our laps.

He has indicated he wants to stay a Cowboy? So did Laurent Robinson and many players with the Cowboys in the past while they moved on in the preseason.

He's a DE that can get you 11-15 sacks a year, maybe even more if he plays lights out, and those players don't come cheap.
