Those are nice offensive players.

I think the Rangers get the nod on the offensive side of things.

But then you have to consider pitching. If it were all about offense then the Red Sox and Yankees would have been there at the end.

Again, losing a 16 win guy is a big time loss. And this is a lefty which is even harder to get over.

Eh...they weren't serious about re-signing him anyway. Just keep developing the youngsters, it might take 3-4 years but they'll see some results eventually. Nothing really special about Matt Garza or any other remaining pitcher. Maybe Gio Gonzalez since he's a lefty and we need another one in the rotation. I'm not even sold on this Yu Darvesh. A LOT of money for a guy that hasn't even pitched in an MLB ballpark yet.

Good for CJ, he'll probably dominate as a #3 or #4 pitcher over there. No pressure for him

This is a nice scenario, but this is where the Rangers were a couple of years ago. Today is different because they have a window in which they have a chance to win it all and they can't afford to view their pitching as something that will come together in 3-4 years. To many of our position players are in their prime now and will be past their prime in 3-4 years

That's a pretty good point.
