I thought it might be fun during these slow times to rank positions by importance.
most I think would say the quarterback is the most important but do you? and what position is least important?

for me I think defense is much more important than the offense....
if I had a choice to take the best oLine in football I would probably take that over a great quarterback.

(1) defensive line
(2) Quarterback
(3) offensive line
(4) linebackers
(5) corner backs
(6) running backs
(7) safeties
(8)tight end
(9) wide receivers
(10) punter
(11)return guy
(12) kicker

i did not include special teams because they are a collaboration of the positions but it was one of the reasons linebackers are at 4 and one of the reasons tight ends I have higher than wide receivers .

QB's obviously the big numero uno.

The rest depend on who's playing the positions, schemes and roles.

1. Quarterback
2. Offensive Line
3. Defensive Line
4. Running Back
5. Linebackers
6. Tight End
7. Cornerbacks
8. Wide Receivers
9. Safeties
10. Placekicker
11. Punter
12. Return Man

1) QB --- touches the ball every play and has control over at least some aspects of playcalling.

2) LB in a 3-4 --- leading tacklers plus your pass rushers.

3) OL --- big uglies make or break life for the QB.

4) CB --- playmakers and cover guys change games.

5) WR --- playmakers, blockers, consistent offense... this position provides a wide variety of things.

6) S --- need cover guys who can really tackle, helps if they can make plays.

7) DL in a 3-4 --- Stop the run and beat single blocks for pressure.

8) TE --- Versatile position with blocking and receiving slant.

9) RB --- Blockers, runners and receivers... rates a bit low because it is by committee and drop off isn't generally large.

10) Kicker --- points are key when needed but good teams dont need them much.

11) Punter --- Wanna win field position battles but you'd prefer to do so without punting.

12) Return guys --- Another field position guy but good offenses don't need good returners to score consistently.
