Rank these running backs

Are we really debating how Leonard Fournette compares to Zeke or any other RB in the draft this year? There is no comparison, no debate. Zeke is good, he has a loyal following but if they think he compares to Fournette, they are just showing their own ignorance.

For reals. LF is on another level good. He had 0 talent on offense last year to pair with him.

All good and we know he has the skills but longevity is more important. Myles Jack... Jaylon Smith... the what ifs. If we are purely ranking on potential then yeah but you gota make it to the nfl first

If you don't have Fournette as number 1, you probably haven't seen him play.

After him it's probably Zeke, then Gurley, then Chubb

McCaffrey will be so scrutinized because of his color. His family is all professional athletes I believe. His combine numbers will tell his tale.

Pretty amazing. His dad was a Pro Bowl reciever, his mom was a track star, one brother is the next Michigan QB, the other brother played WR for Duke. What I didn't know until recently was his grandfather tied for gold (but was given silver, both runners had the same time) in the 100 m sprint in the 1960 Olympics. I guess now we know where he got his speed because his dad moved like pond water.

There is no way you can put Zeke over Chubb after you watch this vid. Zeke is just running out of a shotgun read option every play and doesn't really get touched until he's way past the los almost every time. These runs are real runs out of non-shotgun formations without the benefit of a qb rushing threat aiding him. Chubb doesn't go down easily at all. This is a real running back. Wish he was in this draft.

Alabama. They did nothing special and shut him down. Alabama is the closest to the type of defenses Fournette will face in the NFL.

But LSU had nothing else BUT Fournette. It's easy to shutdown any running back, particularly if you have a top-ranked defense, when that running back is the only weapon on offense. See the Bears against Eric Dickerson in the 1985 NFC Championship Game.

Leonard Fournette (they are saying he is AP like)
nick chubb
ezekiel elliott
derrick henry
todd gurley
melvin gordon
dalvin cook
Christian McCaffrey

Go

Fournette
Gurley
Cook
Chubb
Zeke
Henry
McCaffrey
Godon

I feel like the people who are putting McCaffrey at the bottom of the list haven't really watched him play, and are placing him there for really only one obvious reason. The guy is like college Reggie Bush, and Reggie Bush was a top 2 draft pick.

As a pro, I could easily see him as a Brian Westbrook type player.

In hindsight, being like Reggie Bush isn't exactly a compliment, especially if we're translating these backs on the NFL level. Reggie Bush is not and was not a Top NFL back.

In fact, I heard it said of Reggie Bush before the draft that his body wouldn't be able to withstand the rigors of the NFL, and he wouldn't thrive as a between-the-tackles runner. And his critics were right. Fournette, Chubb, Gurley and Elliott are between-the-tackles runners.

I think you can if you compare them at similar points of their careers. I agree, Chubbs has a lot of talent and if he were healthy this year, I would probably but him above Zeke but he wasn't and Zeke has done nothing but produce. At this point I do think Zeke is ahead of Chubbs.

Not me. Chubb over Zeke already. Personally, I think rushing stats for an rb get super inflated when paired with a run first read-option qb. It happens rarely in the NFL but in college, the read-option system has been running rampant for awhile across a ton of teams. NFL really only had it with teams with Vick (not read-option but still heavily influenced rb stats because he's a freak) and some other outliers like healthy RGIII. The defenses get spread out trying to contain both the rb and qb and it's just way different from the standard passing offenses. Zeke is running through gaping holes created by the system most of the time. The difference in the 1st 2 seconds of every run in the Chubb video compared to a Zeke video are night and day.

Fournette is a once in a generation type player. The other guys are not close

Oh, Lord.

Zeke is better at everything than Fournette. Faster, tougher, shiftier, better blocker, better receiver, and Zeke doesn't fumble the ball.

Did you watch Fournette against Alabama? He quit.
