Lol...how do you do a top 10 list and not include Carson Wentz?

Franchise altering mistake. Much more impactful than Randy Moss. Who would have come to a declining team.

Nice, but that might be recency bias?

The team wasn't what it had been in 1998 and 1999, but went to the playoffs both years. What could they have done, if Troy could have just chucked it up to Randy Moss 4 or 5 times a game? Moss made over the hill Randall Cunningham look like a HOFamer in 1998 and nearly did they same for Jeff George the next year.

Based on what? From what I've seen looks like he's a vast improvement...no mantel, better drafting, etc...sounds like Stephen might be what we need

He won't let Dak run, which is what the team needs for the offense to be more successful. Not sure he'd be a "vast" improvement, as his decision indicates he still doesn't understand NFL football...

zeke WAS a great pick at the time. That's a little unfair to say Carson Wentz. That said, Zeke seems to lack the desire needed to be an exceptional RB for the longterm. From that standpoint, I am disappointed with him. Carson Wentz isn't exactly Mahomes btw. He isn't all that. Better than Dak? YES...

Mahomes wont be this years mahomes next year anyhow...give it time, he'll come back to normal

Deion? TO? Both of those had positive effects on the franchise. TO was awesome in dallas, and Deion shifted the power from SF back to you.

Yes, I wasn't sure about those two. Both were amazing players that were immediate improvements to the team on the field, but both brought locker room culture problems. There are rumours that Deion undermined Troy's authority contributing to the cultural decline under Switzer and well we all know what happened in 2008 with TO. Besides, there are numerous fans on this board today who continue to hate both moves and say that Deion and TO were never true Cowboys. Not sure about that, but its a topic for debate.

The most glaring mistakes are his persistence at being the face of the organization and not having an astute GM to run football operations. Landry aside, the two best coaches he had did not want to stay in Dallas because of the organizational structure/dysfunction. Jerry and Stephen are not able to commit the time necessary to make personnel decisions for the roster, let alone being qualified to do so.

Sorry, bro. Missing out on a great WR for a team on the decline pales in comparison to not getting the next elite franchise QB. It's not even close.

It's difficult to limit it to just ten......getting slapped around by Goodell everytime..........starving for attention ie:"*********", ....just thinking about Jerry gets my blood pressure up so I'll just leave it as it is.

I wouldn't put signing Deion even in the top 500, let alone top 10.

Hiring Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett after Parcells. What a joke that was and still is.

Also if you want to get technical he hired Garrett first. A zero experience assistant coach before the actual HC lol That's just beyond anything you can think possible with a real GM. Jerry's just a complete moron.

Your number 10 needs to be edited to "The way he fired Landry." Landry was getting fired no matter what. It was a stipulation they put in as a requirement for buying the Cowboys. Jones had to agree to it or he couldn't purchase the team. The way he did it was horrible though.

Agreed! He needed to go. I was over it. Jerry just made a mess of how he did it.

Not sure how Deion makes it on the list. We took him from a rival and he paid off.

I don't think this team needed Deion or T.O. but I won't put them on the list. Just Jerry wanting to sell jerseys but both did produce while here. With Deion it was if you can't beat'em, join 'em!

You might be right about Wentz, but the problem with your position is that he wasn't on the board when the Cowboys picked that year. Moss was on the board in 1998 and we took Gregg Ellis instead. Passing on Moss only to watch him become a generational player his rookie year likely caused Jerry to overcompensate and trade away two #1s for Galloway two years later. Those two mistakes are related. The team was clearly in decline, but still competitive. Moss may not have been enough (he would have had Garrett throwing to him for 5 games in 1998), but we will never know.

My top 4....

1) Getting rid of Jimmy and becoming an active GM.

2) Making your equally unqualified son your top personnel assistant.

3) Reverting back to weak head coaches after Parcells.

4) Carsus of Bismarck.

Nothing else compares to those 4. They were all franchise crippling.

Yes on 3. Went backwards after building again.

Surprising nobody mentioned the Rowdy situation. Ever since he got here the team has never been the same.

Letting Sean Payton go, that lost us a couple of Superbowls during the Romo/Witten/Dez period.

This organization is awful at evaluating coaches. Absolutely awful.

They don't think it matters. They still think the team with the best players win cause 90's.

Scheme is more important then ever.

Why is Deion even on that list? You don't win the 3rd Super Bowl without him. Not only what he added to the team but what you took away from the 49ers.
