11. Roger Staubach

Career stats: 22,700 passing yards, 153 touchdowns, 109 interceptions
Individual accolades: 2-time Super Bowl champion, 6-time Pro Bowl selection and the 1978 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year

After winning the Heisman Trophy following his junior season at Navy, Staubach’s NFL career was delayed while he served his four-year military commitment. First starting a game at 29, Staubach went on to lead the Cowboys to two Super Bowl victories in five appearances from 1970-1978. ‘Captain America’ captured the 1971 MVP and Super Bowl VI MVP, and is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame.



9. Troy Aikman

Career stats: 32,942 passing yards, 165 touchdowns, 141 interceptions
Individual accolades: 3-time Super Bowl champion, 6-time Pro Bowl selection, 1993 First Team All-Pro selection

The No. 1 pick out of UCLA in 1989, Aikman quarterbacked the great Cowboys dynasty of the early 90s. Aikman led the Cowboys to a 32-17 trouncing of the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVII, completing 22-of-30 passes for 273 yards and 4 TDs. Aikman then led the Cowboys to two more Super Bowls in the next three years, capped off by a 27-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XXX. Aikman amassed over 32,000 yards and 165 TDs in 12 seasons, ending his career with a 3-0 record in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for Aikman, his Hall of Fame career was cut short in 2001 following his tenth concussion.

Sammy Baugh was a little ahead of my time but read his was a wizard on the field.
Aikman was a general on the field throwing darts. People dismiss because of stats,Thats so misleading.

would never rank Troy above Roger. Roger had that little extra something that only a very few had; Joe Montana one of them.

I always thought Joe was the best I have ever seen with Roger right there with him - Roger's one real small flaw was that sometimes he just could not resist taking chances that Joe did not.

If pushed basically I would say Joe and Roger as one and one A.

Right after those two I would put Otto Graham.

And frankly after those three I see a gap.

Sammy Baugh played in such a different Era that its very difficult to judge just how good he was. Otto was just starting in the time when passing became more prevalent but his record is what makes him stand out; every single year he played he was in the championship game of whatever league he was in.

Dont think Elway deserves to be ranked as high as he is. Marino is also too high - good passer, but didnt have the intangibles that great QBs have.

This is what I'll say about Troy Aikman. I've never seen another QB who could have done a better job during those 4 glorious years. He was practically flawless, especially in big games. There were many games where the guy could have circumcised a gnat 50 yards down the field. He was extraordinary. I've never seen a QB that accurate in my life.

One other interesting thing about Troy. He brought more hardware to Dallas than Roger Staubach.

Well he did not have to deal with the Steelers and the refs that slobbered all over them. One play in each of those two games and Roger would have been the first to have four rings.

Absolutely agree with how under-rated he sometimes seems to be. During their run that guy was just....wow. And like you said especially in big games. Wasn't he like 11-3 at one point for his playoff career with 3 Superbowls? Just insanely good when it mattered most.

Aikman rode Emmitt and a good defense right into the hall. Aikman had Irvin, Novacek, Pro Bowl lineman, a stacked D line and could not win a game when Emmitt held out.

Aikman was clutch the few times they needed him to be, but He's no #9 all time.
