Another thing is that if the rumors are true that the FO is reluctant to give Dez a big money deal, they probably know plenty that we dont.

This freaking rappaport dude is getting annoying. He has breaking cowboy news like every other day. Is he a beat reporter for the cowboys? Cause he sure acts like it.

I remember when he covered alabama and auburn for the Birmingham news. He is a joke. Never take anything he reports as legitimate. He is a TMZ style reporter

He blocked me on Twitter because I asked him why doesn't he just retweet Adam Schefter instead of claiming sources

$5m signing bonus sounds like a complete slap in the face -- bordering on total disrespect.

I have to believe the article is inaccurate.

Also Fitz only got 27 million guaranteed and I wouldn't say Dez is better than Fitz in his prime (or even now)

How is paying him like a top 3 WR insulting him?

We don't know if any offer has been made or the details. Until then I'm just saying we shouldn't insult him. I understand we will probably offer a lowball deal that is just business. Just make is a reasonable deal.

Id say raise the guaranteed to 35 or so and stay there.

That would be my guess as well. The numbers are probably fine. Just increase the guaranteed portion and they probably have a deal. 20M signing bonus and 35 M guaranteed will probably get it done.

Some people are more easily insulted than others.

Rappaport trashed a credible report when he stated the reason for a lowball was bad conduct over the past four seasons.

Dez won't accept a less than deserved contract, nor should he now. He is a true difference maker who put Dallas ahead in eight minutes of this game. He did all of his team high damage, in a single quarter.

No they wont. Because we will franchise Dez.

I've seen an estimate that the tag for WRs will be 12.7M. If they offered him a contract that averages 11.4M per, then they don't save much by giving him a contract vs the franchise tag and that gives the team the leverage.

Often times the tag is several million higher than what a player would get as an average salary. In those situations, the team doesn't have as much leverage.

Make a choice whether you want to pay him or let him go to another team. You franchise him and you possibly create very bad locker room chemistry and you have a possible Orton situation or a situation where Dez demands a trade. Dez has been a solid citizen and has cleaned up his act from where he was, so either reward him or let him find a contract elsewhere if you don't believe his cost is worth it.
