Rapoport: Zeke wants a new contract this offseason

If I'm Zeke I would hold out and let Dak carry the team. There's no better agent to articulate Zeke's value to this team than Dak's play.

Zeke has no leverage really. He's in year 3 of a 4 year deal with a team option for a fifth. Of course he wants a big payday but keeping him on his original contract is part of getting drafted in the 1st round. It's possible something gets done next year but there is no hurry to do it right away.

No, I remember quite well. My concern would be paying big dollars for a RB with the high mileage and wear and tear that Zeke will have accumulated. And for all of Zeke's greatness, I still would not have taken him with the 4th overall pick in 2016. You never pick a RB that high imo.
Whatever.

Time will tell.

There ain't no absolutes here.

Zeke has not been injured yet.

I see no decline in his game.

His passing yardage this year was excellent.

I try not to borrow the trouble until it happens.

Later.

Thanx.

Not two years early. Hold out. See ya.

No need spending a ton of money on a RB with a ton of mileage. I love Zeke, but this is also why I was against drafting him. Average tenure of an NFL RB is 4.4 years. We can draft another RB who would be ready to play day 1.

Maybe he wants a long term deal that makes it worth the cowboys signing him early. He gets the guarantee of the cowboys not driving him into the ground on his rookie deal.

Oh I get what he wants and even deserves but what's in it for the cowboys? An extension has to benefit both and right now the team has all the leverage. Also increasing his guaranteed money is riskier for the team in case of injury. We know how we run a good back down.

Zeke doesn’t seem like the sharpest tool in the shed of life though.

..this is where you want Belichick mentality. If some of these guys want fortunes, cut em'. Only a QB could hold his pants for descent cash. Draft some good OL players and any runner can run those holes.

Cut Zeke?

Surely you jest, just like your avatar.

How did it work out for stealer RB .... whats his name ?

They got a HOF QB that can throw rockets downfield that teams back off of and, before the Brown situation, the deadliest WR in the game. And Connor’s last stretch of games running before the injury were average. And looking at his numbers, this season there is clear questions about sustained production.

They also offered Bell a lot of money irrespective and he wanted more. Dak has not shown he can play consistently well without Zeke.

Dak $20 mil
Zeke $20 mil
DLaw $20 mil

Cap savings gone.

Why are you purposely being obtuse doggy? Use some common sense, Martin is the highest paid player at his position so why would we be redoing his deal? Zeke is the 10th highest paid player at his position but he’s been arguably the best the last 3 years. I shouldn’t have to spell this out for you. some of you just like to argue like broads.

Why are you calling grown men Doggy? Maybe it's a good idea for you to follow your own advice and use some common sense. We are not stupid, but what you said previously makes as much sense as Paying Martin after he has received a big contract. You can't pay everybody and you can't just hand out big contract early. Somebody is going to get left out in the cold if you decide to pay Zeke early so I'm asking you, who should that be. You claim it's us who like to argue yet you jump on here and make a statement like you did and then when and honest question is asked of you, you come up with some BS like, the best player. Hello, we've watched this sport for a long time now. We are not stupid, yet you answer that honest question as if we are. You don't like the kind of response you got, then don't act like we are stupid and you understand things when you really don't, clearly.

I'll ask you again, if you make the decision to pay Zeke early, how do you handle the other contracts coming up because you can't pay them all.

Yea im not about to read all of that doggy. Consider this the last reply in this exchange and dont quote me again, thanks

I'll consider it but some how, I doubt you will live up to it. I mean, it's your M.O. Make a stupid statement and then don't bother to back it up with any real content. Then you don't want to be quoted. If I did that, I probably wouldn't that either but hey, it's going to continue to happen and we both know that. If not me, somebody else. Maybe you can try and dust off your "Doggy" angle to try and get around it. I don't know how successful that will be for you but hey, give it a shot.
