Mack was traded to the Bears for 2 number ones. How did that work out for the Bears?

The answer is not good. I am sure they wish they had never made that trade.
you have a point as its clear their GM is no better than ours
However once again this harkens back to the Walker trade where Jimmy sodomized the Vikings. what was the end result of THAT trade?

Only one "big" contract left after Dak and Lamb signing

Stephen Jones's words.......
Which is why the team’s brass will spend the offseason examining how they got there and what led them down this frustrating path. Of note: Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, vice president of player personnel Will McClay and other members of the team’s brass will explore the effects that signing big-money, high-profile, top-of-position players has on their rest of their roster.

“To me, it would be irresponsible if every year you don’t look at the full body of work and the big picture and how those guys fit into that big picture,” Stephen Jones told NFL.com at the conclusion of NFL’s December League Meeting in Las Colinas, Texas, on Wednesday, “and how we want to think about our team in terms of the big picture going forward
Stephen is saying a bunch of nonsense. If you don’t sign Parsons then you shouldn’t have signed Dak or CeeDee. Although I think he is talking about Steele, Diggs, Gallup, and Martin. That means guys like Osa, Lewis, are in trouble.

I am saying it was not worth it to Chicago. That was a lot to give up for a defensive guy who did not help the team that much. Parsons might be a one trick pony.
I think if we could get a first round pick for him, it would be worth it. The only other options are making him the highest paid defensive player in history or seeing how long he's willing to holdout before reporting next year.

He was talking about this statement ........Steele, Diggs, Gallup ( retired ) and Martin are not high-profile, top-of-position players. It's Parsons...

Like I said it’s a nothing burger from Stephen. The one player you probably should keep, he is gonna convince Jerry we can’t sign Parsons? Get out of here.

As per usual it's the correct comment, said, at the wrong time. They should of explored the effects of CeeDee's tantrums on the side line and Dak's ficticious 'leadership' qualities (which he hides behind 'the stare'), they are now left with the one player that actually elicits some form of leadership on the field and improves the performance of players around him.

Jerry wont trade him, he doesnt know how to. Actually think he's aware that he's out of his depth and the Dak negotiation (especially in hindsight) has confirmed it.

But one of the quickest to lose the step that separates them.
Most edge rushers can play out 7-8 years and be effective. That’s why you sign him now and not wait out the 5th year option. I’d listen because that’s just smart but the odds of drafting a top edge rusher in the next decade is very slim. Every few years a guy comes out, goes early and one team adds a guy.

right who did good in a CONTRACT SEASON, they'll get the usual top or decent free agent deals and we won't want to match that price, and they'll sign on the first day of FA
Both have been pretty consistent. But I think you are right. We will drag our feet and miss out. You may not can keep both but we need to keep one of them. We went into this season too thin at DT to begin with. Hope we don’t make that same mistake again next year

The risk of paying him elite money and getting less than elite production for a significant portion of the term would be another team killer though.

Nope, doesn't affect the game at all. Cowboy fans are extraordinarily stupid.

This is just my take but I definitely think this has legs. It could be Jerry and Stephens's early message on how far they will go or else..........
Keep in mind, IF they decide to trade him

*** It will likely be to a team that already has a franchise QB
*** Def before the draft coz things could get toxic if he's forced to play next season w/o a new deal
*** There is no way his new team makes a trade w/o a pre-trade contract agreement
*** Parsons's leverage will be his refusal to sign any new deal unless he gets what he wants ( his choice of team and contract terms ). New could still make the trade and have him for three years (5th-year option (2025) and 2 tags ( 2026 and 2027) ) before making a drop dead decision.
*** Nick Bosa is currently the highest-paid defensive player........ ( $34M ...$122M guaranteed ). Likely Parsons floor.......
*** For contract neg.....is he an LBer or a DE? It matters.......

Parsons isn’t getting traded. He’ll be a Cowboy for many, many years unless someone offers a #1-#3 overall, another couple of first round picks, plus players or additional picks. Nobody is giving that up.

Given the contract he is due, its going to be tough to find teams willing to part with premium draft picks on top of whats looking like a 200M contract. The window to trade him him was last offseason. I doubt Jerry and son can pull off a Khalil Mack type trade.

one player frankly is just that; one player. Ware was putting up huge numbers but that made no difference as regards getting a ring, did it?

Let's trade away all of our best players and then bring in a rookie qb with a patchy o line. That's going to be a surefire recipe for success.
