New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings confirmed Monday that he was ordered not to score on two run plays inside the Dallas Cowboys' 5-yard line with less than two minutes left in Sunday night's game and the Giants leading by three.

"On the first-down play, I was told, 'Rashad, don't score,'" Jennings said. "On second down, 'Rashad, don't score.' I was tempted to say, 'Forget it,' and go score because I could. But I didn't want to be that guy. But definitely, I was asked not to score."

Wow. That's insanely stupid of the Giants' coaches.

And if time management was the most important thing to them, then why were they throwing on third down?

Also, not real wise of Jennings to put his coaches' bad internal decisions out there like that.

I just don't believe this. He must have been hearing things.

It's hard to make up a story like that....

1st down, don't score...
2nd down, don't score...

I remember when Peyton did it to us a few seasons back. He told their RB not to score..

One of the ESPN NY reporters is speculating that Eli and/or the coaches thought the Cowboys were out of timeouts at that point. Because, clearly, that's the only way you're attempting not to score.

It makes no sense that they would tell Jennings not to score on two plays and then call a pass and not tell Manning to take a sack if nothing is there.

I understand getting greedy and trying to score on third down after making DAL use 2 timeouts, but throwing on third is indefensible.

This doesn't make any sense. Purposely not scoring means you want to leave Dallas with as little time as possible. That means you run it or take the sack every time. Trying to score means you're trying to put the game out of reach regardless of time on the clock. What the Giants did was contradictory.

I'm not buying it, but if they did tell him not to score then they're complete idiots. I'm pretty sure the Cowboys defense had plenty to do with him "not scoring" on 1st and 2nd down anyways.

A score would have most likely sealed the game for them. So I don't get why they would tell him not to. Did they have that little faith in their D to think that they couldn't stop Romo from coming and back and scoring the points that he needed to with the little time that was left?
