I started watching it but had to turn it off. I guess it's one of those things where since I'm so intimately familiar with the disorder, I can get a little bit critical with the performance and how the disorder is portrayed. I love Claire Danes, and Temple Grandin is truly awesome, but it just seemed a bit too cookie-cutter in the first 10 minutes of me watching it. It's like they are just running down the checklist of autistic symptoms and behaviors and showing it in succession.

Echolalia? Check
Scripting? Check Check
Rituals? Check Check Check

I might try to watch it again when I can do it without looking at it as anything more than entertainment.

Interesting analysis. Most of the reviews that I read by those with Autistic expertise and/or family members found it to be an excellent portrayal, which is what drew me to watch it. I can see where someone with extensive exposure to it might view it as more of a "been there, done that" though.

Easy. Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. Neither of which were needed for this film in the least.

You know, I was really on the fence about checking this one out. You folks just saved me from wasting my time.

Zombieland - 8 out of 10

Is it the best movie ever made? No but I thought it was funny as hell.

I'm shocked that Bruce would even make it but then again he did make that last Die Hard piece of crap.

Street Thief: Who is Kaspar Carr - 8/10

Very good movie. It's kind of a heist/thief movie shot documentary style to make it seem like a real documentary. Cleverly done and the end is mysterious enough without seeming like a cop out, especially due to the style of film.

I watched it on Netflix, it's available on watch instantly so I'd definitely recommend catching it if you have Netflix. It's an Indie movie so it slipped through the cracks.

I actually liked that last Die Hard movie.

Thought it was a lot better than 2 or 3.

I have only been to one movie in the last 33 years and the last movie I went to was Dances With Wolves in 1990. I enjoyed the movie very much because it showed things from the Indian perspective but while I was inside, someone stole the fancy factory spoke wheel covers from my Caprice.

I have not been to a movie since then and have no desire to watch all the violence they bring to the screen these days so I don't watch TV anymore either. I like entertainment; I just don't consider violence entertaining. I love Irish music/dancing and educational documentaries and, of course, Indian music.

The Internet is my entertainment venue these days.

Life is good.

I'm a huge fan of Kevin Smith, and I can say without a doubt that there has never been a trailer or tv spot for any of his movies that I thought looked good.

That said, the red-band trailer is definitely better than what's shown on TV.

I'll be there to watch it Saturday morning.

Just went to a free screening of Hot Tub Time Machine last night. I'd give it a 6/10. It's mildly funny, but certainly isn't a gut buster. It kind of feels like it's trying to play off the success of The Hangover, and it just doesn't work as well. All of the characters are pretty pathetic and they're basically a bunch of *******es. The best parts are the 80's references, and considering the premise of the movie, there are far far too few of those.

Just watched a couple documentaries

"Who killed the electric car". 8/10 Very interesting. Usual suspects killed it. Automakers, big oil, and the Bush administration had their hand in it too. No shockers really.

and "The Ghosts of Abu Ghraib". 7/10. Some slow points, but still very informative.

Just polished off the entire Generation Kill series in the last two days. Stayed pretty close to the book. It's actually a bit better than the book because some of the things you see just don't register by words alone. Plus, there being so many characters in the book between Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie Co's it's easier to keep track of who is whom visually.

The movie gets dirty, but that's what it is. Don't expect nostalgia, Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, or the Green Berets. The series ends with the chaos of the end of Saddam's rule. Expect that kind of confusion as well.

That bad? I can't imagine any of his movies being worse than Hudson Hawk.

A movie about the Cowboys offensive line coach? No wonder it's no good.

Man.....man...wth....this movie was so over the top. After the 100th special effect I just started chuckling after something would happen. This movie made Michael Bay movies look like an after school special. The script was SOOO bad...every scene had a convenient 'out'. And Mr. Emmerich...you're what you'd have if a mad scientist combined Michael Bay and Uwe Bole. You are quickly becoming a total joke.

*** SPOILER ***

Plus side: Best death in cinema history. The President is killed by having an aircraft carrier crash on top of him at the White House. I tip the hat on that one :laugh2:
