Star Trek: Into Darkness: 8/10 - I felt like some of the acting was a little forced.

Same here. It seemed like it took some time for them to get into character-- or rather since these things are shot in god knows what kind of order, it took time for me to accept their character portrayals.

All in all I'd give it a 8/10 too. Liked it better than Iron Man 3... felt like the story was very vanilla but still great to watch.

I guess I'm getting old, but the last two Star Treks have been a couple of the worst movies I've seen. Horrible acting and unbelievable characters. It's like watching the cast of the Big Bang Theory running the Enterprise.

Hilarious. Yes!! (BB running Enterprise) :p:

The movies are ok but offer nothing new. Just trying to be like the characters.

Sometimes too much of something is..... Too much!

Have only seen one of the old Star Trek movies, so went into watching the new ones without any expectations. They were both pretty neat-o. Into Darkness = 8/10.

Watched "Skyfall" tonight.

6.5

From the way people talked I thought I was going to get my socks knocked off, but twas not to be.

It was solid and entertaining but far from being the best Bond movie ever.

Daniel Craig is a terrific Bond... Even though he's showing his age.

Judi Dench made an excellent "M".

Adele's theme was decent and the graphics very cool, but hardly the best Bond theme ever. Not even in the top-4 IMO.

Not as much "swashbuckling" as what I'm use to seeing in a Bond film– After the first 15 minutes the movie was dead for the next hour.

And maybe the worst villain ever.

The photography, as he went back home, was very good.

Tomorrow When the War began. Cheap Australian rip off of Red Dawn with more teenage angst type stuff to it. Watchable but nothing great about it at all.

The Darkest Hour. Aliens come to earth and in this one it takes place with some Young Americans in Moscow. It is watchable with a couple of cool ideas in it but otherwise pretty forgettable and lame.

The Purge 7/10

The US 2nd founding fathers have come up with an idea that society needs to be purged on an annual basis to curb crime and make people happier. So ever March 21 for 12 hours, all crime is legal. You can kill, rob, rape, pillage etc with impunity.

One profiteer Ethan Hawke has made a fortune off selling his neighbours protection against the Purge. Needless to say, they are pissed off at him and decided to purge him and his family.

Totally nihilistic.

Pretty much in-line with my thoughts as well.

I think I bought into the hype too much.

Enjoyed Casino Royale much more.

Either I bought into the hype too much or everyone else (except you and I) got the hour and half version of "Skyfall"... The one without the hour of dead time in it and they slipped us the 2 1/2 hour job... you know the version of the film before it hit the editing room!

It was an awesome villain. The homo eroticism was classic as was the part where he took out his fake teeth and his entire face caved in.

Hmm. That was just weird.

At no time did you get the impression that "Hey this guy is going take over the world" kinda thing. LOL!

To me that's #1 criteria for a Bond villain. And the guy in "Skyfall" just doesn't cut it. He just wasn't menacing.

He was just weird. :D

Man of Steel - 7/10. I was a bit underwhelmed with this. Never really felt connected to the characters all that much. I thought the action was a bit one note as well. Overall it's solid, but not the amazing spectacle it's hyped to be. I was surprised the screening I went to wasn't even full. I got there way early just to make sure I got in, let alone get a good seat and I had basically the best seats in the house and there were probably 100 spots empty. No reason to bother with the 3D (Pacific Rim on the other hand looks very good in 3D).

I did consider adding a point for Supes being a Royals fan .

Thought it was horrendous and the most over-hyped move if the year. Choppy and so many logical inconsistencies and un-filled holes. The villain takes down countries in the first five minutes he is introduced, and the last 1 hour plus he's chasing after Bond with a group of like 12 men, with average firepower.
