Star Trek: Into Darkness: 8/10 - I felt like some of the acting was a little forced.

The US 2nd founding fathers have come up with an idea that society needs to be purged on an annual basis to curb crime and make people happier. So ever March 21 for 12 hours, all crime is legal. You can kill, rob, rape, pillage etc with impunity.
One profiteer Ethan Hawke has made a fortune off selling his neighbours protection against the Purge. Needless to say, they are pissed off at him and decided to purge him and his family.
Totally nihilistic.

From the way people talked I thought I was going to get my socks knocked off, but twas not to be.
It was solid and entertaining but far from being the best Bond movie ever.
Daniel Craig is a terrific Bond... Even though he's showing his age.
Judi Dench made an excellent "M".
Adele's theme was decent and the graphics very cool, but hardly the best Bond theme ever. Not even in the top-4 IMO.
Not as much "swashbuckling" as what I'm use to seeing in a Bond film– After the first 15 minutes the movie was dead for the next hour.
And maybe the worst villain ever.
The photography, as he went back home, was very good.

I think I bought into the hype too much.
Enjoyed Casino Royale much more.

Overall it's solid, but not the amazing spectacle it's hyped to be. I was surprised the screening I went to wasn't even full. I got there way early just to make sure I got in, let alone get a good seat and I had basically the best seats in the house and there were probably 100 spots empty. No reason to bother with the 3D (Pacific Rim on the other hand looks very good in 3D).
